Part 79: Feasting!

Apparently we get to pick how much beef is involved here. I don't know how many cows are slaughtered in a regular feast, so I go with 8 so that we'll have an even 700 cattle.

Not sure if that's normal or if it's a sign that I slaughtered too many cows. Oh well, the carls always grumble. At any rate, both the weaponthanes and the farmers feel Secure now, so everything worked out!

Next, I sacrifice to Chalana Arroy because I really want to get Healing before we need it again.

Dammit Chalana Arroy, I didn't come here for heroquest details!

Ooo, Horse-Spawn. Let's see how they like our new Stake Perimeter.

Ow.

Yes, it's Dark Season! A fine time to heroquest, wouldn't you say? But we've learned a few new myths since last year, so I'm giving you guys a choice of which one we do.

Humakt The Champion. This would be done by our ringmember Harvar. The most relevant stat here is Combat, and his is Renowned. (not that that's helped our raids any...) Possible rewards include strengthening the quester, defending against undead, reconciling the weaponthanes, obtaining a treasure, and bestowing Humakt's blessing upon our battles.

Chalana Arroy Heals the Scars. I'm not sure what stats impact success in this quest, but it's hard to go wrong with strong Magic. Unfortunately, both of our Chalana Arroy worshippers suck. The best choice would be Ernaldesta, who you may not remember as the person who was kept off the ring for being thoroughly mediocre. She's slightly better than our other Chalana Arroy worshipper, some nobody named Orlkarth, because her magic is higher(but it's still only Good). Alternatively, we could send a non-Chalana Arroy devotee on the quest; being of a different god makes it harder to succeed, but Elmalandti has Renowned magic which could more than make up the difference. Or we could just not do this quest. Possible rewards include healing the sick/wounded, mending a rift in the clan, making peace with a neighbor, making the quester wiser, or making our wounds heal faster in the future.

Elmal Guards the Stead. Possible rewards include strengthening our defenses, gaining fine horses, strengthening our leaders or the quester, warding against chaos, or reconciling the weaponthanes. Combat skill is useful here, but our best Elmal devotee in that regard is some guy named Sarotar, who has Excellent combat skill. Our clan leader, Jorator, only has Good combat, so it's probably a bad idea to send him on this quest. However, since there's an option to strengthen the clan leaders, we don't necessarily have to have him quest to get the benefits.

The Making of the Storm Tribe. Leadership is useful here, as you'd expect, but many different skills are involved in this quest. Elmalandti is very well-rounded in this regard; he has excellent leadership, renowned magic, very good combat/bargaining/custom, and good animals & plants. Possible rewards include gaining Orlanth's blessing for tribe-making, improving our reputation or political abilities, and making the quester a strong leader.

We're not doing Ernalda Feeds The Tribe again unless you guys really, really enjoy repetition.
