Part 15: Revelation

"These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful." ~ Revelation 17:14

With Lucifer defeated, there's a few things we can do now.

Firstly, we can fuse whatever the hell we like. The level restriction is removed; this would be nice for a New Game Plus or whatever since it's pretty much pointless now. There's no super secret optional boss or anything (aside from that kid down the street).

Odin is quite disappointing for something you'll only realistically get after kicking Lucifer's ass and can't even get the components for until you're on his doorstep.

But, more importantly, there's four demons we literally cannot acquire until after defeating Lucifer. The first is at Mt. Palo; the demons there are the same as they was before, but the new guy is waiting where Devil was stood originally.

Yep, we can get the Gaia Masters to join us at this point. Except Mephisto, because he's deader than dead at this point. Even if we didn't kill Optional Boss Mephisto, he still wouldn't be recruitable. None of the other Gaia Masters attack you, so it's just a matter of finding where they're hidden.

Statistically, some of the Gaia Masters aren't actually that good; they certainly aren't all the best things available - compare Baal to Odin, for example. Aside from the spells, Odin is basically the better of the two and doesn't require the game to be beaten to unlock. He's just not going to live as long due to having far, far less HP.

The next Gaia Master we'll be getting is at the Cave of Oasis where we got the Lete Water to get into Arrow. Not for any particular reason; it's just the closest.

As you'd expect from the final boss, Lucifer's quite a fair bit more advanced than Baal or Odin are.

As far as I'm aware, Lucifer is one of the only two demons that have access to Holy 3. Lucifer also, easily, has the most HP out of everything you can use (note how he's the same level as Odin and yet has nearly 6k more HP) and his stats are quite reflective of the beatdown he can inflict if you're not prepared... and even if you are.

Our next Gaia Master is waiting in the Nest of Zord and is all the way at the back where Uranus and Buster were when we came here the second first time.

Belial's name is still messed up as ever; I could have fixed that myself, I guess, but no one really seemed bothered by it so I didn't.

His stats are a bit of a mish-mash, and his spells are just bleh. Out of all the Gaia Masters, he's the only one that you have no legit reason to use. Curse 2? Better things have that, like say Dragon or Baal. Sleep 2? You're doing it wrong!

Our last reward for saving the world is located at Nova. If you banked that Light Dew, go get it cause you need it everytime you come here.

Yes, our final reward is the "pacifist" archangel Michael. To say you had to beat the game to get him to finally do something, he's quite... disappointing.

His stats can only be described as "Lucifer but worse." His spell list is basically that as well; they both have Icy 2 and Holy 3, but Michael can heal the party whereas Lucifer can use Holy 1 instead. Healing's kinda nice but you shouldn't be relying on a demon to do it at this point.

Something that I didn't get before now, is a fusion mutation. Imagine the goofs in Persona 3 or 4 only they will (almost) always be in your favour. This is the only way to get some demons, like a Zord (including a third type that you don't fight anywhere insofar as I have seen) or a Dullahan, and it's not just possible to never see it but it's also allegedly impossible to see more than one from any given playthrough. Loki could occur by mutation if you go by the shot on the right but since he's the result of that anyway, it seems pretty pointless.

Also, Kali is a random encounter on Terra. Good job I didn't get one, otherwise that would be super confusing! Out of all suggested names for Uranus, Kali was the only one that posed this problem.

For those that enjoy grinding on long car trips or just outright enjoy it, this fight is the best repeatable one for EXP and money!

The fights in the Luciferium are consistently good, but this is outright better than anything there. The best in the Luciferium is around 4k EXP for reference. There's two places you can encounter the 3x Diva/3x Gomora; one is the island where we fought Mephisto the second time, learned to speak to trees and so on. The other is the island where you can go to Nova. The problem, is that whilst, yes, you could get 5k of each from this fight in the same location there's also this;

So, the Luciferium is more consistent and thus faster at higher levels but the two islands have a potentially larger payoff and thus faster at lower levels. Debatably. It's just an easier to win fight at lower levels since you're not gonna be killed of by a Curse 2 frequently and thus need to take time out to revive/restore HP and MP so often.

Speaking of MP, once you reach 255 of it you'll gain none at level up. There's nothing like this for HP, though, so the demons aren't the only ones who could have over 1000 HP. There's a functional cap for HP, but in theory it could reach 9999 if it were possible.

Because of the annoying nature of RPG banks only accepting minimum payments of 1000 exact, it's impossible to get that to be nothing but a bunch of 9s. This annoys me more than it should, since it makes the functionally maximum amount of money $1,998,999.

Due to the way stat points have been allocated, this is how everyone ended up at level 99. Samuel has the stats of a glass cannon but due to the Force equipment being so incredible he still doesn't die all too easily. Enkidu just needs 1 more level to get 30 strength. That 29 is gonna eat at me for ages. Same with Kali's endurance being 34 instead of 35.

...Okay, you've probably noticed that they still have an Exp value for their next level. That's not just for show;

The only person who I didn't bother to get to their maximum level is Uranus because, oh god I spent like 4 hours grinding for this much and I couldn't be bothered anymore. And I love grinding. Anyway, credit for almost the rest of this goes to GauRocks because I've seriously never bothered to grind in the post-game due to not having anyone to multiplayer with on account of only getting to play the game long after it was released.

The odd thing about this game is that there's no fixed level cap; you only reach it when you max all of someone's stats apart from Luck for some strange reason. This means that in this case, Uranus' maximum possible level is 155 (5 more for Endurance and 10 for Speed). The overall cap though can go no higher than 161 depending on the character and then both how many stats points you dump into Luck and how many charms you use. Making Luck the dump stat and giving all charms to one person would give them their lowest possible level.

We'll use El for this because his stats start out balanced; assuming he had no charms and gained no Luck stats (40/40/40/40/8), it'd take 128 levels to max everything giving him a level cap of 129. This would then go down by 1 for every Charm you give him, since both a level up and a charm grant the same +1 to a stat. So, if you gave him 4 charms and neglected his luck stat he'd hit the level cap at 125... which is a much nicer, much rounder number but still leaves Luck at 8 which is quite annoying, so 2 points for that and 1 charm would raise the level cap to 130 which gives El wonderful arbitrarily round numbers for both stats and level.
