Part 60: The Mystery Rooms - Part 4

Off to the fireplace.

Interesting idea. Why don't you try it and see what happens?

It still hasn't gone out.

Repeat for the other three goblets; as Tax Refund said, the correct order is Dog/Bull/Pig/Rhino.

Done it!

This must be the way to the secret room!

If you get the order wrong, the goblets still remain full of water.

Good. Let's go in, then.

You know Etista's probably in here, don't you, Prof? Do you think we can handle her on our own?

I'm sure we'll be fine. She doesn't seem to have any intention of killing us.

Oh? How do you know that?

If she wanted us dead, she would have set far more dangerous traps for us.

I suppose that's true. We were never in any danger.

Although...

Aye?

Well, I can't imagine Hilda being stumped by what we've just come through.

In all fairness, I'm not sure if the music box was supposed to be opened the way Lucy got it open.

What does that tell us?

This implies that Hilda extinguished the fire, went and met Etista, then chose to leave Etista there while Hilda went back to make Alfendi to come up in person.

.....

You seem to know this Hilda lass very well, Prof.

Yes, I do. We've been...closely acquainted for some time.

This feels awkward. Lucy can't work up the nerve to ask Alfendi outright what his relationship with Hilda is, and Alfendi seems oddly evasive on the subject himself.

Oh, I see.

Alright then, let's go in. Etista will be waiting for us.

We've got you now, Etista!

.....

Eh-up. Who are you?

You don't know?

Tried to disguise yourself, eh?

It wouldn't be a Layton game (even a spin-off) if disguises didn't come into it at some point.

Makepeace?

That's right.
