Part 12: A Shared Dream

Update 12: A Shared Dream

Music: World Map Free of Mist

This one's a bit short, but there's a semi-important decision at the end that I figured it would be fun to let you guys make.

First things first; I loaded up an old save (between Rikuroa and Biron) and took a picture of Meta.

Now, check out what he looks like.

As you can see, he's transforming a bit. This happens over the course of the plot. I'll try to check up on the Ra-Seru again every time I awaken a new Genesis Tree.

Also, for what it's worth, here are Terra and Ozma.

Meanwhile...

Remember this cave? Now that the Mist is gone, maybe we can explore this area safely and find a way through.

Music: Cave Theme

Now that the Mist has amazingly disappeared, I was just waiting for a customer. Welcome to my shop. I have everything and anything. Come on into the back.

Actually, most of his stuff is old, but he has some upgrades for Noa. I bought her a new weapon and new body armor – I'll grab the shoes and headgear when I can.

The Silver Compass decreases the odds of us getting ambushes. I'd say it's worth equipping – I gave it to Noa in place of the Cure Amulet, because Venom just isn't a credible issue right now.

This lever unlocks the larger door, allowing us further into the cave.

The caves are another one of those kind of labyrinth but not really places – there are a couple branches that lead to treasure (a Healing Bloom and a Door of Light).

I am called the Old Water Witch. I've been in business here for forty years. But it's been ten years since I've had any customer! I'm so happy now! Well, come on in! I run a store and an inn. You must me tired. Come along and I'll get you a room for the night.

Yeah, some sleep sounds good. But you know, it occurs to me that we don't have any real direction at this point besides “go North and get rid of the Mist and maybe find Songi and Noa's parents?”. Let's remedy that, shall we?

Music: The Dream

Boo hoo! Where are we?

This may be a dream.

Perhaps...But if this is a dream, it feels different from an ordinary dream...Noa? Noa, what's the matter?

A voice! I hear a voice! Who is it? My mother...It sounds like my mother!

???: Noa! I am not your mother!

???: They are the true words of Rem. Go to Octam, the ancient yet eternal city, far away in the heart of Sebucus. There, compassionate human beings will learn the true meaning of all dreams!

Hari is going to tell us what our dreams mean?...

Yeah, you're right, Vahn.

The old witch seems to have taken in a few children. Let's see if any of them can shed some light on things.

Oh, good! I dream a lot, too! Dreams too you about your future, you know. Somewhere on the Sebucus Islands is a person who lives in a dream world. His name is Hari.

Hari? I know about Hari! Can Hari really tell you what your dreams mean?

Yes. My grandma said so.

He's in Octam. Hari is in Octam, right?

Octam? I'm sorry, I don't know much about the outside world.

Oh. Sigh...Vahn! I've made up my mind! I'm going to look for Hari! Vahn, will you help me find Hari?

Of course I'll help you find him!

Good! I'm so happy! Thank you, Vahn!

All right, it looks like we have a short(er) term goal to be on the lookout for!

I've heard it was a beautiful town famous for an amazing tree and the Sky Gardens, but now, who knows.

...and a second short term goal. Hmm. I wonder where we're supposed to go? Oh well, we'll worry about that in a sec.

You're my first customers in a long time. I can't let you go away empty handed!

She hands over two Doors of Wind and explains that they allow us to teleport to any town we've visited while we're on the world map. They can be pretty handy for getting around, especially if you want to avoid the all too frequent random battles that pop up.

So let's head just a little farther up and out of this cave...

As you might imagine, the Sebucus Islands are...y'know, islands. The paths between towns and other locales are long and winding, and...hey, is that a town off in the distance?

Meanwhile, this is the town of Jeremi, not to far away from the cave.

Now, I have a decision for you all to make. Should I enter Jeremi or explore the islands?
