Part 30: Extras - Hatchat SR

I get the feeling that it'd just turn into the last BC:DOS video where I shouted at him falling off of ledges but with fewer baby commanders

Okay, hands in everyone! oooohhhh

and relax. Now, you may remember that in the last meeting of the EDNIII Hat Society I mentioned that the Sandraiders--those snipe-y buggers who plagued poor Nathan so back in Episode 3, Chapter 2--had considerably more interesting hats and costumes in general than the player characters in that episode. Well, now I'm here to put my hatchat where my mouth is!

The Sandraiders are, like the Carpetbaggers, a mostly-unexplained group of baddies that nobody really knows anything about. Unlike the Carpetbaggers and the Jungle Pirates, however, they're not actually a violent bunch'a thugs that hold Strategic Resources we need--no, I'm afraid that the Waysiders, the big bunch of bastards that they were, wandered up into the Sandraider's home and slightly smashed the place up and all they were trying to do was stop 'em! Even snipers don't deserve that, surely??

Well, no! Stop having sympathy for snipers--they're arses too! The Sandraiders make enough energy to survive the day-to-day miscellaneous awfulness of the desert by ambushing anybody who passes by their little village and stealing all of their energy, lifeses and possibly hats as well. How do they manage to ambush so effectively in the desert? Well, they dress up like the desert, of course!

The desert on EDNIII looking like a big insect with a pair of space-culottes and a feedbag, of course. Yes, this is definitely a departure from the Waysiders designs. A lot of people really hate Sandraider A's design and I can sort-of see why--it's a total hodgepodge of various bits and bobs that don't particularly go together, but I think the overall effect is quite charming. It definitely looks like a fella who lives and fights in the desert, I think, and it fits in with the overall slightly over the top theme to the character designs of LP2.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that the funny little bug ears on his hat wiggle around of their own accord? Sorry, I probably ought to have mentioned that before. I would definitely watch this very large gif of Sandraider A's hat, were I you

Hello, "The Rock Dwayne Johnson from the Scorpion King"! You're looking bland today.

Look, this is what you get when you complain that Sandraider A is too visually messy. The lazy sod's not even put a shirt on to go along with the blanket-cloak-hood-thing! He looks fairly sinister though, I suppose, which is what you'd expect from a desert-stalking sniper. I'd still much rather the Renaissance upperclass bug-man, though.

You bloody pillock! You've forgotten to add any sort of foliage to your ghillie suit! It's all twigs! Nobody's going to be fooled by this at all, Sandraider A. Nice antlers, though, so I'll give it 7/10. I'm swayed greatly by antlers. To give him credit, his wooden suit is actually spectacularly well constructed. Look at those trousers! They'll survive a few bumps and scrapes playing on the desert village swings.
