"Symbols" = "characters"? Were they translating to or from English?

From. Everything was translated from Japanese. Jian's name was originally Jean (like Jean Luc Picard, not like Jean from EB but still.) One of the folks from the fan group suggested it be spelled as Jian, they actually took that suggestion.

Gabryel's name was Gabrielle, but the game had an 8 character limit so it was changed to Gabryel.

About all the Old Testament names The game was originally called Lunar: Genesis, so I guess they wanted biblical references that stuck with it because changing NPC names after it became Dragon Song is effort.

Back to other stuff
Oh, also I was wrong. Originally Jian was going to be turned into a frog. It became that curse later in development. I completely forgot until I looked through the papers I have. I know it seems like a huge thing to forget, but surely after seeing all the bullshit thus far and knowing it gets even more terrible you can accept the excuse that those in the fan group (and now me in the aftermath) had to wade through so much shit... it just all got muddled together.

I mean, I cannot express this enough. The storyboards I've got here are sometimes just long context-less sentences of just like... things that may happen: "Lucia gets kidnapped, AGAIN, and Gabryel is allergic to milk, and this boss is actually the thing keeping this forest alive and Jian gets turned into a frog!" No context, no drawings just... yeah.

I'm told all provided materials were mostly just these storyboards I'm now sifting through and phone calls and e-mails. That the fans only interacted with Ubisoft in person, like, once. I've been informed that, timeline wise, the fans were actually advising on this product before it came out in Japan. Maybe they didn't have a game yet?

I'm wondering if I'm being too reckless with what I say, there was an NDA involved in all this but it's been forever... Am I saying too much? I wonder if Ubisoft will come after me.
