Part 28: The role of the player in the gameFair enough, although in 4Xs, I tend to assume that there is a certain abstraction in levels of control for purposes of gameplay. It's not the case that the central government controls every economic decision in anything save a Unification government, the length of play lasts longer than the natural lifespan of a Human, tactical battles would logically be commanded by the commanding military officer on the scene, and so on. So I take the role of the player as more of an abstraction of a gestalt of the decisions of people on all levels of the society, as appropriate to what's happening at the moment.
