Part 97: CloudMan Study Session

As per request.

Overview: CloudMan is actually fairly easy to get a 10-second S-rank on. In fact, I could say you should even start here if you're aiming to get all the SP chips. With one of the easiest counter timings, predictable movement, an elemental weakness and a relatively low HP total, maximizing the damage of your SP chip should be easy. Your biggest worry are those godforsaken clouds as they tend to spawn in response to the moves a player makes. Putting all your damage onto a singleCactball and watching it get blocked by a random cloud is very, very infuriating. You fight him as you would fight BubbleMan -- keeping his damn clouds down.

Field:

[_][_][_]//[F][F][_]
[_][M][_]//[F][F][C]
[_][_][_]//[F][F][_]

F = Fuck the Clouds. These are the spaces where the clouds CAN spawn.
C = CloudMan
M = MegaMan

The game won't load more than five clouds at one time, so keep an eye out for the one row that holds only one cloud.

Team Colonel: With this version getting TomohawkSoul/Chaos, then it only makes sense that they have more options of going about 10-second'ing this boss. TomohawkSoul is simply ridiculous, since it basically gives all your Wood-elemental chips a Pink Hulahoop bonus over Grass. And guess what? The damn forms spawns grass panels!

TeamProtoMan: Although not necessary given the weaknesses outlined, you will have to Counter to compete with TC's damage output. Of course, if you know how to rock GyroMan's chip, then that is a huge boon here. GyroMan's chip is simply a boss killer if used correctly.

Learn The Frames

In the video, I will say "move 5 times and then attack for an easy Counter." I am weird. How my brain interprets his movement is: CloudMan spawns on a panel (1), then moves up (2), stops then begins his descent down(3), passes onto the middle panel(4) and then will attack (5). You can simply see this as moving across 3 panels (of which it's ALWAYS, up, down, down), or the fourth panel he steps on. Either way, this pattern will never change. Always attack when you see CloudMan step on that square.

Top Tier

: Cuts through all clouds, protects you from the thunder balls AND damages him? Yes please!

: Watch the clouds DROP.

: CloudMan doesn't actually get pushed or pulled, so this is EXCELLENT.

: Obvious.

: Actually pretty good! Check one of the GIFs after the video.

Average-High Tier

: He just can't avoid this chip, plus it can help land a counter or two.

: Easy counter, and bypasses all of his clouds.

: Drop that paralysis! Throwing chips may seem risky, but taking care of the clouds is common sense.

: Areagrab is actually a bad chip to use here, so TomohawkMan isn't all that exceptional, unless you can get a quick play out of it. Its high damage output keeps it in this tier.

: Requires setup, so that eliminates it from Top Tier.

: Since CloudMan moves slow, these will most likely hit him if you time it well. Destroys all the clouds in a row, too.

: The fact that the clouds can block these completely prevent it from being Top Tier. But still, attack a bunch of Atk+ to it and watch him die horribly.

Suck Tier

: Why the fuck does this chip cause mercy frames? This is the ONLY game to do that! By virtue of being a Wood chip, it avoids the bottom tier for this boss.

: These are a bad idea here because the clouds will spawn around you, possibly trapping you in.

: Who the fuck uses this chip anymore?

: We need Areagrabs to make this work, and those aren't the best of choices here.

: Takes a bit to get to him, at which point a cloud may spawn and stop it in its tracks.

Fanfic Writer Tier

: Uhh, no.

: Wat.

: I guess you don't want CloudMan's maximized SP chip.

: Whatever you're smoking, I want it.

: I think we need to have a little talk.

: I guess if you like the PA, that's fine. But individually, these just don't work well on him. The clouds completely stop this attack.

: You're staying still for waaaay too long.

: HURR I AM LORD OF FLAMES

: I LIEKA DA SWORD

:

: Does absolutely nothing. The programmers made CloudMan immune to things like this to prevent possible bugs arising from colliding with his clouds.
