Part 79: Sons of Myrgard - recap
Game film: LP Sons of Myrgard (TFL 1.5)
So, first off: we get an explanation for the Forest Heart victory screen. Our escape from the Tain broke it into pieces, and since from Soulblighter's perspective this happened as soon as he used it, he's retreated for now and left us to continue our march to Balor's lair. Also there's news that The Head is not as benevolent as it claimed, surprise surprise.
But before we get to see what happens with the Legion proper, we're following a dwarven strike force airdropped into their old homelands to confront the ghôl menace. Among Myth campaigners this is a favorite and/or frustrating mission, for obvious reasons. If your dwarf micro skillz aren't up to par before this, they will be by the end of the mission... if you make it out alive. Well, either that or your save/load skillz will get a workout instead.
In my little comedy of errors around the halfway point, with the ghôl guards of the inner compound, we got lucky with a couple of narrow escapes. But we also received enough damage so that one of our dwarves was weakened enough to later succumb to a pus attack just before the end of the mission. Sad, but still an amazingly low bodycount for this mission...
...friendly bodies, that is.
