Part 143: 10/7/09

10/7/09

Time, death, and midterms wait for nobody sadly.

Gossiping Student: Sine! Cosine! Tangent!
Loud Student: Megido! Megidola! Megidoloan!
Gossping Student: Sine! Cosine! Tangenton!
> The first bell has rung.

Not that I’m worried about them.

The precise moment when two agents come into contact… It’s so exciting!
All right, Aelita, it’s your turn to answer my question today.
It’s Japanese tradition to place some salt next to the entrance of a bar… Wait, we covered this.
Okay, new question. Do you know why a matador’s capote is red?
To excite the audience.
Oh… you knew? Well, that’s correct.
Bulls can’t distinguish red from any other color. It’s the fluttering of the capote that excites them.
The audience, however, becomes very anxious at the red cape. Human reaction to color is very interesting…

I tried to find Mr. Ono, but he wasn’t in the faculty office.

> Ms. Miyahara, the math teacher, is here muttering to herself…
Let’s see, I put in an average of two hours of overtime… Factor in the mean age…
Add a little spice here, here, and here…
According to my extrapolations of next year’s salary here… I can expect a 4.17% increase…
…Huh? If I round up… does that actually get to 5.17%?
Ummmm…
In any case, this is one beautiful equation…
> Ms. Miyahara seems to be calculating her income.
Oh, hello there, Aelita-kun. Did you overhear my calculations?
Isn’t my use of pi in that equation a daring move?
Sure, it may not have been strictly necessary, but it’s a question of elegance!
Do you understand? Wakari mashita ka?
…I must’ve sounded like Ms. Terauchi there. We sit close to one another…
I assume you’re here because you’ve discovered the beauty of math, right?
The beauty of math… Once you master its brilliance, even winning the lottery is a breeze.
Calculating probability from all sides… And determining the precise collection totals, too.
If you factor in the profit form saving the money you win, you’ll never lose.
Not that I’ve ever bought a ticket…
> You listened to the secret to falling in love with math…
> Mr. Ono doesn’t seem to be returning.
> You decide to give up for today.

Anyway Elizabeth wanted some of the sushi from the shrine, but I mean just taking it would have been a bit crass. I got lucky, though.

> Despite your Academic prowess, you are unable to think of an acceptable way to obtain it.
Old Lady’s Voice: Hey!
You there!
Why do you have such a sullen look on your face?
Did something happen?
A child your age should be carefree…
What you need is a good meal and some rest, and you’ll feel better!
Here, have this Inari Sushi…
> Obtained Inari Sushi.
Old Lady: You have to be optimistic! Your generation is Japan’s future!
Well, good luck.
Cheer up!

Elizabeth was excited though, which makes it worthwhile.

Its scent really whets my appetite.
I look forward to tasting it later.
In return for bringing me such a delicacy, I shall give you one of my treasures.
My understanding is that it’s used in your world for scrubbing floors, but…
With a little creativity, you can find new uses for anything.
Please accept your reward.
> Obtained Scrub Brush.

Aigis and Koromaru seem to be mourning in their own unusual ways.

In fact, he is expressing a great amount of respect towards Shinjiro.

We’re all just trying to move past what happened as best we can.

And it’d be embarrassing to see Shinjiro-san and get depressed…
So, yeah… I’m okay…

I mean he wouldn’t want us to just sit around and mope.

No matter what happens, that’s the path that Shinji chose.
We shouldn’t be obsessing over this. We should be focusing on what we need to do now…
There’s less than a week until midterms.

Not that it makes studying any easier for anyone I think.

But, I just can’t concentrate.
We lost so much, man…
When is Shinjiro-san going to wake up… What if he doesn’t…
…Never mind. Forget I ever said anything.

I mean I know I sure don’t feel like it.

Not when a close friend is on the verge of death…
I can’t just forget about it and move on…
…I’m not that strong…

And it’s hardly going to get our minds off what happened.

I’d like to go see him, but visitors aren’t allowed to see him yet…
The doctor says that his heart could stop at any moment.
Have some faith in him.
Yes… I know that we have to trust him.
But there’s still this nagging feeling that I can’t get rid of…

Especially when the damn Chairman is here. At least he’s not cracking jokes today.

It happened after defeating the irregular Shadow, after the dawn of the Dark Hour.
Ken probably didn’t have any idea what was happening at the time.
Ken and Shinjiro… I knew what was going on between them…
But I never expected it to turn into such a horrible tragedy…
We shall pray for Shinjiro’s speedy recovery.

So I said hell with it.

But, I guess tragedies can happen in battle…
…I’m sorry. I’m still a little shaken up. I can’t think straight.

We went to Tartarus so we could take out our pain on some Shadows.

> The pathway is becoming unobstructed…

It’s like the tower could tell that we weren’t in the mood to mess around.

Let me double check that…

We were just a few floors away from a Guardian.

There’s a strong presence on the 146th floor!
Please be careful.

We pushed through the Shadows to reach out target…

Please be careful.

Found them…

And tore them apart.

Video- “Hell Knights”

Boss Battle- Hell Knight x 3
So like Fuuka says, this is a super tough battle. These Knights hit hard and can Mind Charge out powerful magic spells. They’re probably a bitch if you don’t know the trick to them. And that trick is that they’re incredibly vulnerable to Charm spells. Drop a few Sexy Dances and chances are they’ll beat each other to death without ever hitting you again.

That feels better.
