Part 15: 5/3/09-5/4/09

5/3/09

Our long weekend started today.

> You recall that a home-shopping program is on TV during lunchtime.

I decided to check out that shopping program.

> An irritatingly catchy song comes from the speakers…
Singers: Here comes Tanakaaaaa Over the airwaves to youuuuu
> The home shopping show is evidently about to start.
Hello, everyone! Welcome to the home shopping show, “Tanaka’s Amazing Commodities”!

I’m your host, Tanaka, with live presentation of my Amazing Commodities!
We’ll show you great items at unbeatable prices! Ooh, you won’t be able to touch that dial!
Let’s bring out our item of the day!

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe its wonderfulness!
But wait, there’s more!
We’ll throw in 2 Muscle Drink for only 1980 yen!
> It seems they’re selling a Yawn-B-Gone set for 1980 yen.
> You bought Yawn-B-Gone for 1980 yen.
Next time, we’ll bring you a set of two rare cards that your kids’ll be dying to own!
See you next Sunday, same time, same channel!
> The catchy song starts up again…
Singers: Here comes Tanakaaaaa Over the airwaves to youuuuu
> The shopping program is over…
> You turned off the TV.

I’ve heard good things about that Yawn-B-Gone stuff, I hope it lives up to its reputation. Akihiko was telling me about some kind of ‘red Shadows’ that appear in Tartarus, I’ve not seen one yet but they sound powerful.

The bigger it is, the more enemies there are inside it.
And watch out for those red Shadows.
They’re very powerful, so don’t underestimate them.
Know what you’re getting into before you attack one.

It’d be nice if he could help us out, but that huge Shadow really messed him up.

Will you be able to fight with only three members until he returns?
Of course.
C’est magnifique! Then, I’ll counting on you.

Things are getting worse and worse around here, it must be something to do with that ‘ordeal’.

Narrator: Episode 11: A Dangerous Game! You’re flying too much, Feathermen!
Newscaster: And now, the news…
Today we’ll look at the epidemic of youth depression, including an interview with the leader of the…

I headed down to the bookstore for a bit at lunch.

My wife just left for Gekkoukan.
I’ll wait here.
Well, she won’t be gone long. Why don’t you keep me company, Aelita-chan?
> Bunkichi seems happy to see you.
Are you thirsty? Here, let’s share this.
…Wait, where are the cups? I’m afraid I’m completely useless without my wife.

Just then Mitsuko returned, and she had terrible news.

T… T-T-Tree…
> Mitsuko looks pale.
What’s wrong?
Calm down, dear.
See, you have Aelita-chan worried too. You oughta know better than to walk that far at your age…
> Bunkichi seems worried.
Here, drink this.
And here’s one for you, Aelita-chan.
> Obtained Cylon Tea.

It seems they’re planning to remove the persimmon tree.

The persimmon tree by the walkway, at your school…
My wife heard a rumor that it was going to be cut down, and she almost fainted.
Do you know anything about it, Aelita-chan?
That makes me worry…
You’re so kind, Aelita-chan…
I’m worried too. I tried to look into the rumor, but…
I think I was “barking up the wrong tree…”
> Bunkichi seems to be awaiting your reaction.
Aelita-chan, if it’s not too much trouble, can you tell us if you hear anything about the persimmon tree?
> It seems Mitsuko is counting on you.
> Your relationship is stronger now!

I’ll have to see if I can find anything out.

> It’s getting dark out.
I hate to trouble you, but…
Please let us know if you hear anything about the persimmon tree.
> After saying goodbye to Bunkichi and Mitsuko, you decided to go back to the dorm.

The chairman was at the dorms, I guess he does research on Shadows when he’s not doing work for the school. I can’t tell if he’s joking about having a robot or not.

I’m so busy I don’t have much time for my research.
That’s why I’m going to dedicate this entire weekend to analyzing data.
My only companion will be a robot. Hmm… Perhaps I’ll turn into a robot too! Hahaha!

Having a robot would be kind of cool, I guess. Oh well, time to get some sleep.

5/4/09

I don’t know if I really enjoy time off where we’re just stuck here.

If Akihiko doesn’t get to punch something soon he’s going to lose it, I can feel it.

They offer some pretty good things for a decent price. It might be more useful than you’d think.
Ah, but there’s nothing interesting on TV today.
Dammit, if only I weren’t hurt. There are plenty of times to do…

The person on the news was super familiar, but I’m not sure how.

Trish: Today’s subject is a 20-year-old girl with bright blond hair.
They say her sister used to be a famous idol! I wonder what it’s like to have a relative like that!
…Next is news. Pain, pain, go away!

I think we were all kind of bored.

So, that’s today down the drain. We’re gonna try again tomorrow.
I always have the worst luck on my days off…

Though there’s something to be said for having time to yourself.

Hanging out with friends is nice, but it’s important to get some alone time too.

I decided to spend some time helping out at the theater, I don’t like all this dead time.

> You sweated it out by working part-time at the ticket counter and showing customers to their seats…
> You dealt with a mass of customers at the souvenir shop in the short amount of time prior to showtime…
> Your Academics has increased.
> You snuck in and watched a movie that was being played…
> You Courage has increased.
> Obtained 5000 yen for working part-time.
> It’s getting late.
> You decide to go back to the dorm.

We talked a bit about our strategies tonight.

Well, lucky for you, I have an awesome way of finding this out.
…Tch, you already knew?
Knowing the order of action is key to winning a battle.
Yeah, a good example is when both sides are exhausted.
If we have the first attack and can expect to do a lot of damage, then we should go on the offensive…
If not, then it’s smarter not to attack and just focus on healing.
Always thinking two steps ahead when planning your battle strategy will lead to victory.

Mitsuru’s been busy training her ability to detect enemies.

There’s no excuse for being unprepared.
We can’t afford to let ourselves be surprised.

She’s definitely right about that, if another one of those huge Shadows does show up we want to know about it.
