Part 194: 12/26/09

12/26/09

Well, no more school until the new year.

> You think about all that has happened…
> However, you must still go to school.

So there’s at least one thing we don’t have to worry about for a bit.

Gossiping Student: What are you getting with your New Year’s gift?
Loud Student: We haven’t got ours yet!
But I want to get a lucky bag! I’m aiming for that purse…
Gossiping Student: Ooh, me too! Hey, do you want to start waiting in line today? We could bring a kotatsu…
> The first bell has rung.

Any little bit helps.

You’d better stop relying on your parents so much. And don’t fall asleep in the kotatsu, okay?
Speaking of kotatsu, I’m reminded of a passage from the famous novel… “The shutter of the east window…”
Oh, wait… That was a futon.
All right, that’s enough out of you! A futon and a kotatsu are practically the same thing, wise guys!
Are you having fun teasing your teacher?
Look, all I’m saying is that if you’re not careful you sleep in a kotatsu, you could get burned, okay!?

When even Junpei is tense before a vacation you know things are bad.

But instead, we’ve got a frickin’ impossible decision to make.
This sucks.

Even with that bastard dead, Mitsuru found some stuff for an exam reward.

I saw your exam results… Good work.
That’s quite an accomplishment, considering all you’ve had to juggle.
Here’s a reward for your hard work…
> Obtained King Card Set.
> In addition, you obtained the skill card Mediarahan for your high marks.

She wasn’t looking so good, so I decided to hang out with her a bit.

> Mitsuru has a languid expression on her face…
We only have a short time to be together like this…
Soon, we’ll be looking back nostalgically on these times…
You seem troubled…
…I’m just tired. There’s no need for you to worry.
> Mitsuru seems annoyed.
Since my father passed away… I’ve been faced with many difficult problems…
My inheritance… the future of Kirijo… and the expectations of everyone involved with both…
Most likely I won’t be able to attend college or begin a profession. I will have to find another path.
> Mitsuru looks unusually timid.
Say, Tolstoy…

She might have all the money she could ever need, but I don’t really envy her life.

To be with your true love.
* laugh * You’re so straightforward.
> Mitsuru seems happy.
However, I’m a Kirijo. I cannot simply make a decision according to my emotions.
An agreement between two parties such as marriage must be carefully considered.
This is what I think: marriage is a social contract.
You are not just linked body and soul; you are linked to each other’s social backgrounds as well…
My parents’ marriage was arranged for strategic reasons.
But, as time passed, they slowly grew to love each other.
I don’t consider them unfortunate… Love comes in all different forms.
Do you disagree?
I don’t know…
If I could speak with my father one last time, I would ask him…
……
> Mitsuru seems sad.
I can’t believe the library is closing and we’re still here.
* sigh * Talking in the library… I’m not setting a very good example as Student Council President.
…We should go.
> You listened to Mitsuru as she talked about her personal problems.
> You feel that you understand her better now.

I can’t say I disagree with what she said, given my… circumstances. Still, it’s sad that she might never get a chance to do anything she really wants to.

> You left the library and decided to return to the dorm.

Still, even without much to look forward to she’s still going to fight.

The second term has finally ended… There are only five days left until New Year’s Eve.
My fear and anxiety still remain…
…but I’m no longer confused.
I will fight until the end…
I’ve made up my mind.

Junpei’s earlier positivity continued.

I bombed all of them.
But, compared to all that’s going on…
…my bad grades don’t seem to matter that much, heh…

Anyway I took Koro-chan out for a bit.

> Koromaru is frolicking happily.
Woof!
> Koromaru is looking up at you…
> Has Koromaru been thinking about the days to come…?
> Koromaru’s eyes are filled with a light of resolution…
> You decide to go back to the dorm with Koromaru.

It gave me some time to think, which just really gave me time to worry about something new. It’s been a long time since I heard anything from Mitsuru about Aigis, and I’m getting concerned she might not be back before Ryoji returns. It just wouldn’t feel right making the choice without her even getting a say in it, so I hope she’ll be back soon. And even if it doesn’t show, she must be feeling terribly alone right now. I just… I hope she’ll be back soon. That’s all.
