Part 28: 5/25/09

5/25/09

The exam results were posted today.

Junpei looked like the world is about to end.
Really?
Yeah, really. Exam scores will be posted today, so…
That explains it.
He said he’s gonna beg for a higher score…
…Like that’s gonna work.
Oh, by the way… You remember how Akihiko-senpai was talking about that girl Fuuka…?
I hear she’s kinda weak… but that’s just a rumor. I wonder what she’s really like.
Either way, having another Persona-user can’t be a bad thing!

They went up just before lunch.

> You decide to go look at the exam results.

Does food taste sweeter when you aced your exams? Yes.

> Everyone is looking at you with respect!
> You suddenly remember something.
> Mitsuru promised to give you a gift if you scored the highest.
> You should talk to Mitsuru when she’s at school…
> Lunchtime is almost over.
> You decide to go back to your classroom.

We went over the exam a bit later on.

Let’s go over the test now.
The first part was the kanji dictation section…
How could any of you have got this part wrong? It was a gimme!
I swear, you make me embarrassed to be your teacher!
The next portion was the short essay, reacting to a passage about bullying in schools.
This one was a gimme. As long as you wrote something down, I gave you credit for it…
You could have complained about the bullying at Gekkoukan, right?
…I’m kidding, of course. There’s no bullying here… None whatsoever, I’m not getting into that.
Okay, on to the next section. Many of you got this part wrong.
Now, pay attention. You were asked to write the correct conjunction in each case…
The correct answer was “and,” but I gave partial credit for “however.”

Despite what she said I’ve heard some rumors going around about bullying here. There are some pretty sad people in this world I guess. Oh, Yukari was congratulating me after school.

I can’t believe you came out on top!
Mitsuru-senpai seemed really impressed. Maybe she’ll give you some kind of reward…

Mitsuru’s really busy with Student Council today, I’ll have to catch her tomorrow. Meanwhile, I went to volleyball practice with Rio. It feels really bad to leave her all alone.

Let’s take a break. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated, too.
H-Hey there!
> Your classmate Kenji approaches the two of you…
You again? What do you want now?
Umm…
…Huh? Are you the only guys here?
If there’s anybody else here, they must be ghosts.
Would it kill you to stop being so sarcastic all the time? It really isn’t cute at all.
……
So, who are you looking for?

By the way, it turns out Kenji is a huge creep.

Yeah, but she’s never here. She doesn’t care… She doesn’t even know the rules of the game.
Well, a sophisticated woman like her wouldn’t care much for children’s games in any case.
Children’s games…?
I’m kidding, I’m kidding! Ack! Don’t waste that pretty face of yours by getting all red like that.
Y-You shouldn’t say stuff if you don’t mean it.
But man, where could Ms. Kanou be?
She wasn’t in the faculty office, either…
…No idea.
Do you know, Aelita?
Maybe she went home already.
Really? You think so, too? Aw, maaaaan. I’m so bummed I could just fall over and die right here.
Why’re you looking for her?

So yeah he’s trying to hit on Ms. Kanou, which is creepy on so many levels.

> Kenji shrugs…
You like Ms. Kanou?
Huh? What, can’t I just be nice to one of my teachers!?
> Kenji blushes…
……
Why do you like her?
…Huh?
You’re such a kid, Rio-san…
Listen up, okay? It’s got nothing to do with logic or reason…
Love is something that just happens, whether you want it or not!
It just happens…?
But seriously, don’t tell anybody about this, got it? I don’t even want you and Aelita-san talking about me! Okay!?
> Kenji leaves…

I mean he called Rio a kid but he’s the moron chasing after a woman twice his age who’s just stringing him along. Also he really, really hurt Rio I think.

Yeah.
I see…
……
It’ll never “just happen” to me…
> Rio looks off in the direction that Kenji went…
> You feel like you understand Rio a little better now…

Still, she’s doing her best.

…Let’s get back to practice.
C’mon, we can’t let someone like him get to us! I’ll round up the balls.
> You and Rio finished your practice, then you went back to the dorm.

Yukari also did alright on the exams, fortunately.

I’m glad the exams were easy…
Going to Tartarus really tires me out, so I can’t focus on my studies like I used to.

And thanks to being laid out, Akihiko had a pretty easy time.

Well, I guess that makes sense, since I’ve been spending all my time studying.
Oh, by the way, Mitsuru won’t be back until later…
…so we won’t be going to Tartarus today.

I guess there are some weird people playing that online game Junpei likes.

Newscaster: When we spoke to her, she said her favorite thing about the game was being able to talk to the kids.

Speaking of Junpei, it went about how I’d expected.

Aw, just leave me alone, man…

I headed down to the café to work a bit, never can be sure when we’ll need the money.
