Part 45: Battle Tower - Level 30

Update 36: Battle Tower - Level 30

Inside Battle Tower

Aloha everyone. We're back to take on the Battle Tower, using Pokemon chosen by YOOOOOOOOOOOOOU. Let's meet the crew shall we?

First up is Doomguy the Houndoom by FoolyCharged. Pikasav doesn't let me put in spaces for the nicknames and I can't change them since they have different IDs. Oh well! It's a strong special attacker that relies on Sunny Day to really lay in the hurt. And Double Team for emergencies to match with Brightpowder.

Next up is Pester the shiny Smeargle by SystemLogoff. It's basically a support Pokemon with the ability to reflect special attacks if need be. If we play our cards right, this beagle is unkillable.

Finally, we have our ace in the hole, Allen the Delibird by Trick Question, that can do only what a Delibird can, steal items, freeze the opponent and blow them up with gifts. Beautiful.

Same as before, face 7 trainers in a row to get a prize. Let's go!

We've still got the same pool of trainers as before, so you'll probably see quite a few name repeats. But at least we have 21 new Pokemon to face.

Our first opponent is Lanturn, with Surf, Thunder, Rain Dance and Flail with a Gold Berry. It uses its weather to dangerous effect.

Gen 5.png. At least after the AI sets up their weather, they won't go for it on the next turn, so we can set ours back up.

So Surf doesn't do a whole lot, while Solarbeam will.

Couple turns of back and forth weather and it is down.

Copycat! Houndoom knows Crunch, Flamethrower, Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb with a Charcoal. A pretty mixed moveset for a mixed Pokemon.

We can't really do much but that's what our other team members are for.

It makes sense to Mirror Coat that Flamethrower.

...shit

Alright, nothing to worry about, we've still got our backup.

...SHIT

Okay, so that didn't go so well, but we just had a bit of bad luck. Let's try again.

Ursaring has Headbutt, Leer, Protect and Earthquake with a Gold Berry. It's got high Attack, so watch out.

Ooh baby

Easy enough, but now we face Tentacruel, with Sludge Bomb, Bubblebeam, Wrap and Toxic holding a King's Rock.

Ahah! You fell right into my trap. Now the tag team will take you down!

Open your package of DOOOOOOOOOOOM

...SHIIIIIIIT

YES, now you shall feel my wrath!

...yeah we're fucked.

We can't even get a good item. Where's the Life Orb, the Choice Specs? It's all trash!

I can't even use Mirror Coat as it refuses to use Bubblebeam.

Soooo yeah, back to the drawing board.

I'll be honest, I knew I wouldn't get very far with a Smeargle and a Delibird, so we're replacing them. First up is Deathstar the shiny Starmie by Some Numbers, with Surf, Thunder Wave, Confuse Ray and Recover, holding Leftovers. We've got some parafusion going on, which will shut some Pokemon down, as well as some longevity. Should be good.

Our final level 30 Pokemon is Grasshole the Jumpluff by Mr. Locke, with Headbutt, Encore, Leech Seed and Sleep Powder, holding a Gold Berry. This does exactly what you think and oh it is wonderful.

So seven trainers. Easy.

Ah fuck. We start off with a goddamn Blissey holding some goddamn Leftovers, with the goddamn moves Toxic, Protect, Reflect and Softboiled. Indeed, it has no way to attack, but unless you have a Poison or Steel type, you're going down, cause holy shit does this thing not die.

We do have ways of dealing with it, but it'll be slow going.

Smart lad. Now we face a Primeape, with Karate Chop, Low Kick, Reversal and Focus Energy, holding a Miracleberry. It just hits pretty hard and maybe crits.

I don't really find out about movesets beforehand, so there's some surprises while recording. Might not always work out, mind you.

Grasshole does what Grasshole do.

Cool.

Last Pokemon from this trainer is a Gengar, with Night Shade, Giga Drain, Thief and Lick, holding a Gold Berry. Man, is that really the best special coverage Gengar got back in the day?

Doomguy handles no problem.

And thank FUCK for that. On yer bike.

Christ that was only one trainer...

Poliwrath has Surf, Submission, Fissure and Double Team and holds a Brightpowder. This guy can be a dick. Don't let it be.

Oh look at all those Psychic moves I have. I'll just use the rest of my moves instead.

From there, I can sun it to death, so our next opponent is a Lapras, with the moves Water Gun, Icy Wind, Strength and Rain Dance, holding a Leftovers. Bit weird, but they're not all winners.

Out with this future metagame of yours.

Finally we have an Espeon with Confusion, Swift, Psych Up and Toxic. That's pretty meh.

Trainer three! We're doing pretty well.

Porygon2 knows Tri Attack, Hyper Beam, Psychic and Recover, with a Brightpowder. Let's see what it goes for.

Yeah, it's not gonna have much luck against Deathstar.

Neither is this Dugtrio, with Earthquake, Mud Slap, Sludge Bomb and Slash, holding a King's Rock.

Finally, we have Machamp, with Cross Chop, Fire Punch, Ice Punch and Earthquake, holding a Miracleberry.

These are the Pokemoments I live for, gg, no re.

We got repeating dialogue pretty quick. Marowak has Earthquake, Bonemerang, Return and Hyper Beam with a Thick Club, giving it 144 Attack. That's pretty dangerous, so don't let it do stuff.

Number five already. The team is doing pretty good.

Definitely an odd choice here, but I approve. Fearow knows Peck, Swift, Pursuit and Mirror Move, holding Brightpowder. That's, uh, wow, a moveset alright. Moving on...

I am, are you?

Oh, uh, you are. This team does not handle fast Electric types very well. Electrode knows Thunder, Light Screen, Protect and Explosion, with a Brightpowder. Yikes.

Buuuuuut you just sealed your fate.

Phew.

Uhhhh? Well this is the final trainer. We're not really seeing many new Pokemon, but our team is doing pretty fantastic. I'm glad I didn't have to create some new Pokemon like I did for level 10. That was a special challenge in its own right, but everything from here on should be pretty manageable with the Pokemon you guys have selected.

Stop it.

Heyyyyyy. Starmie has Surf, Psychic, Thunder Wave and Recover, holding Leftovers. Sound familiar?

But aside from a tricky Marowak, we have completed the Level 30 challenge. And our reward?

Coooooooool. Pokemon we didn't see included were... a Bellossom with Solarbeam, Giga Drain, Sunny Day and Double Team, holding a Brightpowder. A Crobat with Wing Attack, Toxic, Confuse Ray and Attract, holding a Gold Berry. A Jolteon with Thunderbolt, Pin Missile, Mud Slap and Quick Attack, holding a Miracleberry. And finally Jynx with Blizzard, Lovely Kiss, Dream Eater and Attract, holding a Gold Berry.

That's it for the Battle Tower for now, we shall be back for Level 50. Maybe the reward might get better in future? Please?
