Part 24: Episode Twelve: The Death Angel's Fate

This is the end.

What happened to your voice there?

Don't worry about it. Just the... emotion. Yeah.

Woody turning was a real stroke of luck for us.

Did you get the Carpenter, too? Did he confess to the infamous Oyster Murders?

Jiggers! A suspended sentence!

Honestly I'd rather they hadn't made a deal with him, but they needed him to nail Bains on the drugs.

I liked the part where they acted out him writhing in pain and begging for medical attention.

Yeah, give those two an Oscar.

I guess he couldn't trust that one to anyone else.

You know Taselli would have gotten out of it somehow if he had.

Do you think it's going to be enough?

Look, he tried to shoot you in front of witnesses and everybody from King Kong down testified against him. He's toast.

Obligatory Court Scene posted:

The Honorable Judge Kim Palmer asks the foreman of the jury, "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, have you reached your verdict?"

The foreman answers, "Yes, we have, Your Honor."

"Bailiff, please bring the jury's verdict to me."

The Final Result posted:

"Bailiff, please read the jury's verdict to the court."

"Charge: ILLEGAL GAMBLING. Guilty as charged."

"Charge: DRUG TRAFFICKING. Guilty as charged."

"Charge: ATTEMPTED MURDER. Guilty as charged."

"Charge: FIRST DEGREE MURDER. Guilty as charged."

Judge Not-Judy posted:

Staring intently at Bains, Judge Palmer says firmly, "Jessie Hiram Bains, you are hereby sentenced to a total of 97 years in the State Penitentiary, without possibility of parole.

Hey, he'll get out just in time for the flying cars.

Don't worry, Sonny. Even if he gets out someday, you can take him down again.

I'm not worried.

The Hero's Reward posted:

Following a ticker tape parade down Main Street in your honor, a huge crowd has gathered on the Courthouse steps.

Mayor Fuddrucker and Chief Whipplestick wait at the top of the steps, while you pass through the Department Honor Guard.

"Sonny Bonds," the Mayor reads, "as Mayor, I wish to express the appreciation of the people of the City of Lytton for your service to them, and present you with this expression of our gratitude, the Key to the City!"

Well, Sonny, we've had some good times.

That sounds a bit ominous.

Sorry, Sonny. I'm going to have to move on.

I guess I knew that would happen sometime. Right now, though?

This is the time we have, Sonny. Besides, other people need my help. There are plumbers and archeologists and thieves and who knows what out there that have to have someone like me to watch over them.

So what do I do when I get in trouble?

Do what I do. Check the manual and then call the Sierra help line.

I... guess I can try that?

Don't worry, Sonny. I think you're going to have other things on your mind soon enough.

What do you m... oh! Hello, Marie. I-

mmph.

Jesus, you two. Enough with the PDAs already.

Sonny?

Ah, well. Good night, Sonny Bonds. I'll see you again someday, when things are at their worst.

For now, enjoy the spoils of victory. And loosen up a little bit, will you?

Sheesh.
