Part 12: Breakout

The jargon words "drive" and "motive" refer to a subject's ability to start, maintain, and control psychic activities related to physical needs (drives) or social needs (motives) under the heading of motivation. While the mechanisms and experience of motivation are impossible to measure directly, we measure them indirectly through observation and control of factors that stimulate known human attraction. These can be positive (inducing pain or fear), or negative (withdrawing food or social contact). We overcome one drive at the satisfaction of another.
