The Let's Play Archive

Shadow of Destiny

by Mystic Mongol

Part 21

Right, on to chapter six.

Plays out more or less the same, only this time I decided to go for the thriller twist. Shouldn't affect things too much. Anyway, head south to listen for the gunshots.... yup, gunshots... keep going south to the scene of the crime and WHAT THE CRAP IS HE DOING HERE?

Goddammit, Homunculus! Put that back, it doesn't belong to you!

Get BACK here! I have words to say you you. FIRM words!

Homunculus is a fragile artificial being, and apparently carrying that baby off exhausted him for some time. He's in front of Eike, he's walking, he's in no hurry, and he still goddamn gets away.

Can you catch ANYONE, Eike? You can't catch twelve year olds. You can't catch fragile little spirit things, or Mr. Eckart. You can't catch yourself. Maybe you could catch a parapalegic impaled on a tree? Nah, I'm pretty sure he'd manage to escape before you got around the corner.

Miriam's death scene plays out more or less the same now as it did last play-through.

Only with a double-shot of extra guilt because you know DAMN WELL who killed her.

That's right, Homunculus didn't just nab the baby, he probably gunned Mr. Eckart's wife down in the street... causing a blood fued that made him the unwilling pawn of Hugo in the future! Not only is he a murderous thug, Homunculus isn't even acting 100% in Eike's best interests!

I don't like you anymore, Homunculus.

Fun fact! Despite the fact that Homunculus could only escape the scene of the murder by the alleyway, and is in fact verified later to have escape through that alleyway, he escapes from the scene of the murder by ambling gently down the middle of the town's easternmost road, directly towards the scene of the crime. Maybe Homunculus used time/space powers to teleport there, just to wave the baby at Eike and make faces? It would establish pretty firmly how tight a grip Homunculus has over Eike's destiny.

Dick.

The first attempt to save Miriam goes poorly, as before.

This scene is all kinds of fucked up after you just saw Homunculus kidnapping the kid, when you're pretty sure that Homunculus killed Miriam too.

Anyway, the second attempt to rescue Miriam works just fine. Dana's gone... presumably Homunculus took her somewhere... or SOMEWHEN! Whooo-wheee-ooooh!

The Thriller movie. I prefer the romance one.

That's all of chapter seven I feel like posting. You saw it last time, it doesn't suck less now.
