Shadow of Destiny

Part 22

I said I wasn't going to show any of chapter seven--maybe this was a bit of a lie. The final showdown with Mr. Eckart was a bit longer in this version, and he waxes rhapsodic about the comb, where he just dropped the subject on the other plot line.

It's covered in lithium citrate!

Better make that morphine.

Or LSD.

I'd like you to have this, as a reminder of what we shared together. You're very important to me, Eike.
Nifty! I'll give it to an old guy in a few hours.

Miriam shows up, they have their little moment.

How about that! The comb is just like the one being carried by the baby stolen by the time traveling evil demon!

Do you think there's a connection?

...nah, too easy.

I can't decide if that's kind and generous, or rude and thoughtless. Maybe both?

At this point, all the evidence is pointing due Homunculus.

Right, chapter eight starts out the same way. Eike spots the painting, remembers he left a girl in the past, and heads there to pick her up.

The conversation plays out a little differently, though.

Huh!

It's a bit too late, I've already found you.

And now we don't have to feel guilty for leaving her in the past.

McGuffin acquired! The plot may now continue unimpeded.

Alright, then. Enjoy your scullery boy, Dana. Try not to get raped by a knight.

And now we will never speak of her again.

That's that fifteen minutes of gameplay sped past. Once again, this next scene plays more or less the same, except for a bit in the middle.

How does Hugo know the Homunculus experiment was a success? He knows Eike brought Dr. Wagner (Or Dr. Wagner brought Eike, if you prefer) the stone, but why doesn't Hugo just assume there was a tremendous explosion, destroying stone and alchemist daddy both?

She was much more convincing when she just beak the crap out of his blubbery emo ass.

No! Don't enable, Margarete, you're only reinforcing behavior!

Whoah, his eyes are steel orbs.

Stupidest question in the game.

Also! Hugo can travel to any point Eike can, yes? Travel to 1580, toss his mom in the back of the time machine, then warp her to the present and check her into a hospital. Bam, fate defied! But I guess he's too busy waving his knife at Eike to actually help someone.

"Only with no dad and sis thinks I'm a thug."

Did he try this before? Good thing he has some hair left, then.

That is such a lie.

No, I don't. Please explain in great detail!

It's just as well you don't get the option to say that. I'm sure Hugo would explain it all, backwards and forwards, four times. Talky bastard.

Alright! Time to make some choices. This series of endings actually lets you do some investigation! I can travel to the present, the cold day in 1980 (shortly after the attack, I believe), 1902, and 1584, a bit after the accident. There are some maps in the thread, if you want to dig them out, or you can just say where you're thinking of. At some point I'll pick a clear majority out of your inane choices and send Eike there to poke around. Remember, we only have twenty minutes before , so now might not be the best time to drop by the Bar Ein Zum and pick up the special.

Hugo's got a knife, and we need to stop him from his evil time traveling shenanigans!

Where to, goons?
