Shadow of Destiny

by Mystic Mongol

Part 8

Chapter Six: The sound of a half dozen people posting, "Holy shit, you can do that?"

Clearly a movie about Rasputin.

Eike takes time off from being murdered to take the local sights.

But not very much.

Gotta give the murderer credit... he wins on variety. Multiple killing meathods lined up to be usable with barely an hour's notice.

Aaaaaand we're back to the solution for chapter 1.

Chapter 6 breaks a lot of the game's rules. Normally you can't leave the present to escape your immediate fate... you have to be in the present to die when it's time for you to die. In this chapter, when the SUV of fate comes a'knocking, you can boogie out.

You can also warp back in time to the beginning of your current timeline in this one... we'll get into that later. For now... THE PAST AWAITS!

Did await, anyway. Awaited at some time.

In the past.

Hey, it's that guy who saw us back in chapter four.

For the last year?

My thoughts exactly.

Those would both be pretty cool movies, if it wern't for the fact they're about a movie director who thinks he has the power to summon time travelers.

Write what you know, I guess. Besides, we saw what a movie about a meditating man would be about, and it blew.

This would be the most awesome movie ever.

Yeah, go back to meditating at the heavens, man. Maybe you'll stop the snow. Or call more. Who knows?

Apparently the bakery in 1980 is in full color. How odd! Bakers contain a strange and mysterious power.

Outside has some color, it's just strongly faded. Maybe it's the weather? No matter.

Wow! You didn't age at ALL in 21 years! Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!

Oh, ha ha ha. I give you a strange and magical candy from the future, and you name it after yourself?

I'm not sure on the exact reason, but it feels like she's imposing on our friendship somehow.

To the present!

Ooooh, no matter how awesome a movie premise, a life of failure haunts him.

How does one go about getting a movie made? Because I want to see this.

Aww, poor guy. Cheer up, it's not like--

wait, I know that car.

Yeah, yeah, you see all, shut up.

Let's try that again. To the past!

Stay back! I have mace!

Stick with what you know. I guess the world conquest idea just wasn't compelling.

Love story, definitely. Maybe Eike can take Margarete to see it when this is all over.

In twenty years.

Your father must be so proud of you!

His TRUE motivation comes out!

Sorry, dude. Only marginally motivated girl-men like myself may pierce time and space.

Well, them and Ando.

Anyway, might as well poke arround in the past a little. Maybe we'll see something interesting... or hear it!

Like that. That sounds like plot!

So much for her.

Dead woman, missing baby... I've heard that somewhere before!

Ah, right. Poor Mr. Eckart. But don't worry... in twenty years, you'll have kittens to fill the gaping hole in your life!

Dana?

Seriously, if his long lost daughter was working four blocks away in a tiny town, I'm gonna be pissed.

The digipad's reacting... we're done here.

However, you can warp to the time you're already in... you'll be sent to just prior to the event. Normally you can't do this--I suspect the time-lines are getting tangled this close to the end of the game. This gives up a chance to save Miriam!

SCIENCE WILL FIX THIS!

Miriam reacts to this just the same way you would react to a forigner running up and telling you the road is dangerous.

She ignores him and walks on.

Into destiny. So much for science.

Maybe if you didn't suck this wouldn't happen!

Best facial modeling in the game. The guy on the left looks suspicious and angry... the guy on the right looks genuinely mournful. Here's this stranger, probably nothing to do with anything, and he's going to try to arrest him.

It fades quickly.

Shit! As the conversation occurs, the Digipad begins reacting! Eike doesn't have long to return to the present, or the time-stream will swallow him!

You fools! Don't obstruct me... don't you know I'm the only one who can save her!

Dammit, I can't warp to the beginning of this time line again, and if I go to the present I'll escape my fate and lose access to this time period... maybe forever! My only hope is to travel to a different time period and then jump back, hopefully before Miriam is killed again.

What? No!

No! NO! Mr. Eckart, I'm... sor...

"Life is a wheel of changes."

Well, so much for that idea. And Eike.

Edit: I take the rough draft, run a few corrections, improve some jokes, fix definitely, then upload the old version.
