Shattered Union

Part 21

Right, time to start the slaughter. It wasn't much of a battle, honestly. I've always thought this shithole of a state should be considered Confederate anyway.

Pre Battle Maps:

And Florida's special landmark is Seaworld or Marineland or whatever.

And this is how I deploy with the goal of pushing all the way across the map and straight down, which is pretty much your only choice.

The first thing I do is burn Savvanah to the ground, just to make sure the Southrons realize the South isn't going to rise a third time. What Sherman did, I do better.

And Valdosta gets the Apache treatment since they can't find anything important to kill. Perry gets the artillery bombardment, again for want of better to do.

On the next turn, still no sign of the enemy, so I move the Apaches up to:

And the Stuarts move into Jacksonville with predictable results.

There's a green B2 in this lush, green town.

And the other strike force deals with Gainsville in precisely the same way.

Another day.

I deploy a CAP to see if there's anything hostile in Daytona, the beach being the next lovely target.

Lo and behold, my green tanks on the green land spot the grey vehicles in the grey towns.

I assess my priorities and decide, prior to engagement, this theme park has to go.

Turned out there were engineers hiding in it, but that didn't delay me any.

And with the manatees boiling alive in their own pools, I bring down the hammer against the Strykers and anything else within range of those Stuarts.

You can see where the Stryker used to be.

I decide the Stryker is probably lonely in Heaven, so I send some Partisans to join it.

These guys are out of range of the battle, but are perfectly in range of the citizens of Jacksonville.

Tee hee!

Remember, no farmhouse unscorched.

On the AI's turn, it corrodes my Stuart (remember when we could corrode things back in the good old days?.

Sends out the infantry, engineers and commandos to predictable results.

Why are the soldiers sleeping on the field mommy?

Since the Stuart blew its retaliatory load into the engineers, its turret is spent when it comes time to fly commando.

And then fucking endless waves of partisans.

And then its my turn, so I bring up the Apaches where they can do some good and use their rockets to do lots of collateral damage while killing the enemy soldiers.

Ditto on the MERLs.

Look at the pretty fire.

And then we begin the Stuart massacre.

And that's all she wrote.

It's a beautiful world, isn't it?

I'm sorry that was a long and relatively unexciting battle, but it's not like the Confederates used their money to deploy anything remotely useful in the defense of that town. Hell, it squandered those commandos in the open fields when they could have really annoyed the piss out of me by holing them up in town.

Our massacre of the citizens of America shall proceed.
