Part 6

The Battle for the Great Basin

First of all, here's a status report on the overall power between our realms; you'll notice that the California Republic has a military worth almost half as much as ours. Since it's fairly unwise to attack anyone with more than half of your strength, as you must defend your empire from attacks as well, it means this battle will most likely be on almost equal terms.

Keep in mind, however, that we've dealt massive damage to California's air force and lesser ground assets. We won't have to worry so much about being pelted from on high, through they do have a Joint Strike Fighter and a Stealth bomber still, but they shouldn't have anything else or any deadly apaches/supercobras.

They've never really attacked us in force with their armour or concentrations of heavy artillery, so expect to see some of that (unless they lost it all in their attack on Texas).

You'll also notice that California's reputation bar is square in the middle, meaning they've been careless and have caused some devastation, though not as much as us (compare and contrast our bars). Notice how we've moved over a notch? This means we should have access to a new special power in the upcoming mission, though we'll most likely miss out on those helpful nanite clouds.

Remember how I mentioned that, if you bordered a region from a cardinal direction you could then attack from that cardinal direction? We have access to the Great Basin from three directions, and will obviously chose the route that's most favourable to us. I think we'll be going by the North, as if we take out that main area, we ought have enough victory points to win the map. If we run into resistance, I might have to go out and snag a few of the others.

As I said, the North route should swing us through Salt Lake City, which I intend to burn to the ground as I really don't like Mormons, while still securing enough VPs to assure us epic victory.

I've bought another FCS Stuart, our workhorse heavy tank, and some heavy infantry to replace the units we lost.
