Part 25: EX Update 4 - Character Bios

For anybody who wanted to know a bit more about certain characters or what happened to them after the events of the game, this update is for you!

All of the information comes from the MegaTen fanzine "DDS-NET" (vol. 11, to be exact), the Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Souless Army Ultra Official Fanbook, and the Megami Tensei Decades DDS 10TH Anniversary book. Many thanks to the fine folks at the Japanese MegaTen wiki for compiling this information!
When calculating ages, I went with the game's release year, 1995, to represent the year "199x" mentioned in the game manual. So the real age could be anywhere from five years younger to four years older.
When I mention that somebody was voiced, I am referring to the voice used for their appearance in the 3DS remake of Soul Hackers. When I mention that somebody was played, I am referring to the actor used for the television drama.



KYOUJI KUZUNOHA

After the incident, he never got his body back and so now jumps from body to body depending on his needs. He appears in Soul Hackers as Sukeroku and in Persona 2 as Daisuke Todoroki. His first-generation ancestor appears in the novelization of Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army, and makes a request in Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon.
The sword he's shown using in official art is a Seven Star Sword (Shichijouken), a lower-level sword found in the original game that was also used by his ancestors.

About 100 years ago in Yarai Market (Yarai Ginza's predecessor), there was a huge fire caused by his experiments at the Goumaden; however, nobody was hurt. He can speak several languages. He got blood from a vampire for research purposes, but he is now a half-vampire because he regularly drank it; he now cannot go outside for prolonged periods of time.

Graduated from T University. He majored in archeology, but since his theories strongly deviate from modern archeology, his work is treated as heresy in mainstream society. His theory is often discussed on TV, but is always spoken ill of; the theory has been opposed even by big names such as Prof. O from W University. His book is now out of print and difficult to find due to its one-print run.
He's related to Hitomi Tono from Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers.



MOMOCHI HIDEO

He has a problematic sense of fashion, often dressing in vulgar luxury brands like Versace. He originally wrote novels as a hobby, but after the incident he wrote a fictionalized version of his experience that went on to become a best-seller.

Nicknamed "T-Shirt" because he regularly wears T-shirts, even in the dead of winter. His closet is filled with white T-shirts, to coordinate with the day's mood. He is the uncle of Tsutomu Kurouri from Megami Ibunroku Persona.
He's said to have been modeled after Shougo Isogai, one of the game's planners and the director of the PSP version.



MADAM GINKO

The club manager for "Cretaceous." She is always wearing a purple kimono with a fox pattern, and can only be met during the new moon. She is knowledgeable about the shady side of the city, and seems to be acquaintances with Kyouji Kuzunoha.

Born for child prodigy research. He once worked in the biological science lab of the former KGB but left for Japan after communism collapsed. He initially suffered financial difficulties, but gained fortune after selling off a stone from Awaji Island by claiming it was actually from Chernobyl. Picked up a questionable Kansai accent when he was working as a street vendor.

He is a volunteer for the Organic Energy Association, though not much else is known about him. He tries to raise membership by going door-to-door, but nobody ever joins.

When he was a young man he became known by Arab merchants as the "Dark Arms Merchant" with his use of a pipe. Time went by and he became a regular agent, but still sometimes sends orders to the Tendou-Gumi.

In the past he was a boxer that went by the name Urufi Mitsuba. During the 12th round of a match against a boxer named Hawk, Mitsuba's punch landed on Hawk's temple while Hawk's punch broke Mitsuba's jaw, sending him backwards where his head slammed on the back of the mat and he was eliminated. Though he wandered between life and death, he managed to survive thanks to a mysterious power before he retired from boxing and opened up a gym.

Owner of the military shop Self-Defense. He is a veritable merchant, but during a poison gas panic he made a mistake when filling in the number of orders of gas masks he needed, and ended up with far more than he needed. When his profit suffered due to the overabundance of stock, he went to the owner of Maruse Real Estate in tears and asked him to dispose of the excess stock.



TENDOU TENZAN

After the post-war turmoil, Tendou operated as the boss of Yarai Market and controlled all the business. However, as time went on, he became depressed because of his older, weakening body. When Sid came along, Tendou accepted his offer without a second thought. Before the Tendou-gumi grew in size, their belief was that the strong should help the weak.



CHEN JIANMAN

He really loves his family, and continued to stay by his son's side. After the incident he wished to take his son home, and continues to negotiate with the hospital about this.

He was set up as the mayor by Yamashiro in order to be his puppet. After Yamashiro's disappearance and allegations of misconduct, he resigned from being mayor. He left Hirasaki and now lives quietly with his wife.

The Hirasaki police station chief. He worked with the Tendou-Gumi to arrest opponents of the redevelopment plan. His true form is that of the demon Kumbhanda.
