Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga

by Luisfe

Part 112

Update 58:

First things first.

And among those things, getting new mantras is a priority.

Look at that. Very expensive. Fire of Sinai is not worth it, but Divine Light is DEFINITELY a must get once enough money is acquired.

In any case, this is Cielo, so he gets a (relatively) cheap one.

Terry Bogard's power once more. Probably never, ever going to be used, though.
That's a nice thing about Devil Survivor, the more limited skill list pretty much makes sure that everything has at least a bit of use.
That is, until you get Drain and Holy Dance. Then there is pretty much no incentive to use anything else, or have any other main skillset in your demons. It is kind of gamebreaking.

Gale also gets the budget option, even if he is not a neglected jamaican-like thing.

Sera gets a better one. She deserves it. And it can be afforded, now that two members are dead dead dead.

Serph also gets one that contains a very useful skill in Devil Survivor: Attack All.

Well, it is useful until one reaches the end of the game where most enemy groups have Phys Reflecters. That is annoying.

Once that is done, exploration/advancement can be achieved.

They say goodbye to Fred. (Veoh)
They shall be forevermore separated. (Viddler)
Blah blah blah. (Youtube)

Cielo seeems to think that he is El Santo, and that Fred is a Vampire Woman. That is wrong.

Fred wants to go into the sun as well!

That is, if they are even succesful.
If not, well, he is fucked, and at best he has a couple more hours
As seen in the intro video, there's still stuff to do for him.

Oh boy emotional time!

Aw, no surprise moment there.

Isn't that just sweet?

Well in any case, they would just have to wait some more hours and the fireworks would come to them.
But that's no fun.

And so Fred is permanently separated from the party.

"Have you forgotten what Karma means?"

"So Sera created us before de Junkyard was made, ja?
But... Dere's no model for Gale, and Lupa and Varin were real live people... Right?
How would you explain dat!?"

Sera intercepted souls and crap?
In any case, it seems that every major player so far has been based on a previous person that was of some importance to either Sera or the Karma society, or (in the case of Lupa), the Lokapala.
Well, not really. No idea what importance Mick, Jinana or Harley had.
But what about Gale?

"It always sounded sad..."

God damnit, the airport is goddamn dark.

And due to the lack of electricity, the automatic walkways are not functional.
At least the plants are relatively well maintained.

There are also blue boring corridors around here. Meh.

And convoluted ways to reach places and goodies. Why couldn't they just jump over the plants?
Maybe they don't want to mess up the vegetable arrangements. But in the end it is just an annoying bit.

More money for the Mad Mart. I guess.

"Tell the others, immeadiately!"

Fat chance, that.

"Seph, listen to me.
They mustn't have Sera. Kill anyone who gets in our way.
Them, us--we're all Asuras. There isn't time to take chances now."

"Hm. Perhaps.
For one thing to live, another thing must be killed.
God, or whoever is responsible, deserves respect for creating such a system.
It reveals that we cannot take all matters into our own hands.
Wr need only to focus on doing our best--a simple, yet profound way to live, is it not?
Now, let's go."

If Rangda is around there, Barong must be nearby.

What I never got is why fusing them nets Shiva...

Strangely, she is as creepy there as in Devil Survivor.

"Ha! There's nowhere we can't find you!"

Bah. Gurrs. They were oneshotted with Divine Light.

So after a minor inconvenience, advancement is resumed.

It is certainly easier to navigate than the EGG, and the architecture is more staightforward.

Not going to complain too much about it, since airport architecture and design is kind of weird.

True, this one is definitely weirder, but hey, it is a jRPG dungeon. They don't really need to make practical sense.
(And there is something that makes even less sense)

Oh my.
Hitting it on the first try. And also having an Impel Stone. How very nice.

Too bad that the equipped skill variety was lacking.

That was with just two. Lesson learned: Have more single target Dyne skills equipped, dork.

Well, that wasn't too bad.

This door is different. Is there anything important behind it?

Unfortunately, no.

But in any case, this is a rather nice detail.

next: More Airport.
