Part 72: First look at Karma City

Update 18

First, the result of going back to see if there was still a chance to see if the inmates responded on the third floor.

"Auto Chakra"

Yes, one of the best ice spells comes coupled with something that gives you MP for eating. Doesn't make much sense, but it works.

"Zanma

Force Repel"

And Roland already had this one paid for, I guess I started grinding for Esoteric before finishing this one. Or just unlocked it, dunno.

Equipped at no cost.

Argilla gets this cheap-o one.

Meanwhile, more luck never hurt no one, did it? I guess that one could gimp one's character on SMT Online by focusing on Luck, though.

Unfortunately, no way to see what they say anymore.

Roland's stat spread is more sensible than Argilla's.

And after a bit of backtracking, it is time to advance.
But not to go to the next objective, no sir. That'll take a while, before there are new areas to be visited, and old areas with new materials.

Just like DDS 1, the visitable areas are rather limited, and instead of an overworld where one could wander (a-la SMT: Nocturne, or in a very limited way as in Devil Summoner), there is a selection hub.

Let's go to the Sala Park.

"Carbon dioxide is starting to build up, since there isn't any greenery to convert it.
Pretty soon, we won't be able to live outside anymore."
Roland is quite fatalistic, but not enough, as it will be seen later

"This isn't the paradise I wanted to see with Jinana!"
Argilla is not pleased by the current stateof affairs.

"They are irredeemable."
Doesn't he sound like a member of the 12 monkeys army? Speaking of that, I should watch that again.

"But there's nothing I can do."

"Humanity has overcome so many obstacles throughout history, we can't let the sun beat us."
Unfortunately, the side effects are rather unpleasant, if you don't eat other humans/demons, you go insane-

"Good thing we made an effort to learn."

"We can sunbathe, take walks through the woods... This is definitely the ultimate paradise."
Meh, low standards, much? Also, the whole "domed city" thing kind of reminds me of Bioshock.

"Foliage is a luxury only the elite few can enjoy."

And that's about it for the Sala Park.

Time to give a visit to this area.

"This is where the Corporate Offive is located, as well as the shopping mall, and things like that."

It also meows.
The cat is there too.

"Yeah... He's de same cat we saw in de Junkyard!"

"You were given basic knowledge, so it wouldn't be difficult to function in reality...
But why would they put something so unnecessary inside the actual simulation?"
They didn't.

"We, the elites, will be rebuilding the world. They'll be in trouble if anything happens to us!"

Hey, a main character from King of Fighters has his own café.

Argilla and Gale don't like the inhabitants of Karma City.

"We'd be better off if they died... Resources are limited enough as it is."

With good reason, too.

End result: The DDS2 world sucks. Maybe slightly less than the Nocturne world. Definitely more than the Devil Summoner world. They are all screwed.
