Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

Part 69

Update 66:

Phenom, eh?
Also, notice that little skill there.
Yup. That is FREIKUGEL, the Free Shot/Bullet/Ball whatever. The strongest attack there is. The BEST.

Giving up this for that is totally worth it. See Spiral Viper? That's pretty much liek Freikugel lite. Very similar animation. Both look like MENSBEAM. Both do massive damage with awesome crits. Both are incredibly useful.
But This is BETTER.
Why is Freikugel better? A) It is an almighty skill that takes HP instead of MP. Since it is Almighty, it ignores things like "resistances". Nothing, absolutely nothing is resistant to Almighty skills. With that little skill, every single thing in the game can be safely attacked, and the damage will be ridiculous, as it will be evident in a little while.

Emergency save just in case, and I am lazy.

The very last stretch. The very last area. The closest one can be to Kagutsuchi. The end is near.

The three Altars. The altars where one should put the Stones that the Leaders of the Reasons had. It is the last objective of the game.

The stone representing the power of Earth shall be inserted in the first altar, powering it up.

It is done.

The second altar shall contain the stone that represents the power of the Nether regions.

Once again, it is done, and the altar is powered up. One more to go.

The third one shall house the stone that represents the powers of Heaven itself. And the three altars shall be activated.

It is done.

One has now to face Kagutsuchi.
Kagutsuchi is not pleased at all, it expected something different.

Non video:

This. This is the last thing.

The very last elevator. Going directly to the center of the Vortex World. Kagutsuchi waits there.

By being oh so much less lame than the other candidates.

Spiral Viper, Gaea Rage, overpowered minions.

FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!

Well, since the other options really blew, and were absolutely no good, it seems like it would be the wisest choice.

Well, yes, free will is not made of puppies and rainbows, it has dangers.

But... But...

Well, maybe if the Reasons proposed by the other humans were not horrible and also doomed the world to a horrible destiny...

Wait what. Oxymoron?
Also: Lucifer clearly had two plans. He himself fell for a reason similar to Insert's, and he would not be opposed to this set of events, even if it was not exactly his original plan (as it will be shown in a moment, and later as well).

Fun fact: It would, it can easily do it, if one does not have Debilitate.
Seriously, this fight is almost impossible without Debilitate.

BEHOLD! THE DISCO BALL!

Kagu-tsuchi's birth burned his mother Izanami, causing her death. His father Izanagi, in his grief, beheaded Kagu-tsuchi and cut his body into eight pieces, which became eight volcanoes. Eight sword kami emerged from the blood that dripped off his father's sword.

Kagu-tsuchi's birth, in Japanese mythology, comes at the end of the creation of the world and marks the beginning of death.[1] In the Engishiki, a source which contains the myth, Izanami, in her death throes, bears the water kami Mizuhame, instructing her to pacify Kagu-tsuchi if he should become violent. This story also contains references to traditional fire-fighting tools: gourds for carrying water and wet clay and water reeds for smothering fires.[1]

And the Demonic Compendium:

Kagutsuchi is an extraordinarily short-lived Shinto fire god. The son of Izanagi and Izanami. He was born of Izanami's womb. Being a deity of fire, he burned his mother to death while exiting the birth canal. It drove Izanagi to madness and cut the child to pieces by his sword. These pieces formed eight different mountain kami. The blood produced other kami as well.

In Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne, Kagutsuchi appears when each universe is chosen to reborn. It is situated at the dead center of the Vortex World and radiates the energy pulse to maintain its existense. When the chosen from the old world brings the Reason / Kotowari of the new world creation to it, Kagutsuchi will challenge him/her and then frees its power to embody the philosophy to a new world.

The phase changing of radiation of Kagutsuchi's energy pulse is the same as the traditional SMT lunar phase. From 0 phase - silent (new phase in English version) to 8th phase - full. Then swings to silent phase reversely and continues the loop. Its function in the game is the same. In full phase, demon will act like drunk and raise the attack power. In silent phase, enemies will become calm and easy for conversation. Several skills are affected by Kagutsuchi's phase, too. If certain conditions are met, for one battle, the phase of Kagutsuchi can be set to "dead"; as expected, this means no skill that is affected by Kagutsuchi will work correctly.

But it's still interesting that why a Shinto fire god is the instrument of re-creation. There's many discussion concluded that Kagutsuchi is actually the many dummies or avatara of Y.H.V.H.. For commercial consideration, Atlus may decide not to name it directly follows Y.H.V.H.. Instead, the lord of Kagutsuchi was described as "The Great Will" in Nocturne.

At the end of Digital Devil Saga, Angel can be seen holding a small sphere which resembles Kagutsuchi's first form. Whether or not this has significance is up to speculation.

After a while, it changes into the form of a face. After even more damage, this happens.

Untrue.

And so, Kagutsuchi dies, and releases his power for Insert's nameless Reason. The reason of Aradia and Yuko.

It is done.

It is over.
The Reason has been chosen. Kagutsuchi's power has been released. The world's shape has been established once more.

...

It was not the end of the world. Or a new beginning.
Or was it?

Then, after the credits, this is shown. This is very important.

Well, that was it for the FREEDOM ending. Next time, I will be going to the Fifth Kalpa. And then redo the entire dungeon again. WOULDN'T THAT BE FUN?

Good night. I'll be back soon.
