Part 15

After being confronted by Hazama again, we continue on exploring the winding corridors of the World of Gluttony.

Datenshi Ukobach x2 and Yuuki Gaki x2 appeared!

We're starting to get some more interesting, stronger demons turning up. Hopefully I can recruit an Ukobach as a minion if only for its looks. However, the enemies around here are a bunch of bitches, and more often than not will just take your money and run than seriously become your minion. On the bright side, they're also easy to talk into running away.

A noh mask noumen 能面 representing a female serpent-demon filled with malicious jealousy and hatred. Two sharp horns sprout from the temples and bulbous, metallic eyes lie half hidden beneath scowling brows. The gaping mouth is full of gold teeth, with upper and lower fangs that heighten her ferocity. The flesh tone of the face varies depending on the social rank of the woman portrayed, with a lighter complexion indicating aristocratic status. Worn by the protagonist, shite シテ, in the second acts of AOI NO UE 葵上, DOUJOUJI >道成寺, KUROZUKA 黒塚, and MOMIJIGARI 紅葉狩. The first two plays depict women betrayed or spurned by their lovers; the second two portray demons who first appear in human form to trap the unwary. Several traditions account for the name "hannya." The most plausible account traces the origins of the mask to the mask carver Hannyabou 般若坊, who was active in the late 15c or early 16c.

Ukobach is a demon of an inferior order who maintains the oil in the infernal boilers. Some call him the inventor of frying and fireworks. He appears with a blazing body.

This dungeon is a long and confusing network of non-descript corridors with one way doors and trap tiles.

> Water is gushing out of the geyser...
Geysers are quite common here; they're basically escape exits you can use if you're feeling overwhelmed and need to retreat and regroup.

We continue to press on in the dungeon, and are rewarded amply for our bravery along the way with stat-boosting incense and and a Megidola Stone, which gives us a one-time powerful non-elemental attack which might be useful in an emergency.

Still, we're running low on bullets and the constant fighting is taking its toll on us, though we are gradually getting stronger and stronger. In fact, we're nearly ready to get some new Guardians.

After a while navigating the small intestine-like corridors, we find ourselves in a town.

Doesn't look much different from the rest of the dungeon, though.

D. Worlder:
Jaki Orcus rules over the World of Gluttony under the Demon Emperor's orders.
But, they say Orcus is actually a man transformed into a demon. He was a human consumed by greed who had the symbol of his gluttony planted within him.
That's why Orcus continues to eat, eat, eat without stopping... Just as the gluttony within him orders.

D. Worlder:
It looks like the seal rings aren't only held by the rulers of each world. Because Orcus is just a transformed human, he's not the real ruler. The true ruler lies within his guts...

We stock up on bullets, and trade in our Desert Eagles for machine guns - great for dealing with groups of enemies and doing a lot of damage to a single foe.
We also buy some new armour for Reiko to replace her skimpy High Leg Armour.

D. Worlder:
There's a weird man making useful tools. I hear he came from the other world.
Apparently he even has a tool to shrink your body.

We also drop by a fortune teller, who tells us:
Your lucky item is "MicroPlasma". The one who has it is a middle-aged man in white...

There's a Jakyo in the back of the town too, but we're still just a little too weak to get something better.

However, Tammy's Guardian Points are full, meaning she can get a big upgrade if she dies.

Cat Sidhe isn't cutting the mustard any more...

Tammy takes off her armour, and walks resolutely into dangerous territory again...

and is slaughtered at the hands of the demons wandering the corridors.

Charon:
Now, return to the land! When you rise again, you will be reborn with the power of the light...

Whoa.
Tammy's new Guardian is Hannya, and the power she gives Tammy makes her excel in speed and attack. We'll have to make up our crappy Magic stat (4) so that we don't get totally raped by magic spells.

Dying causes us to restart from the beginning of the World of Gluttony, but we have an advantage now, and we also have a map of where we've been before.

No problem. Reiko still has a little bit left to go before she's ready to die, too.
