Part 30: Battle #24: Chaos

As we return to Prompt, we find that the inhabitants are acting quite a bit differently, for no apparent reason.

Anyway, back to the King...

Oh, hey. It's been a while since we've seen that face.

The Sword of Light was already hilariously overpowered, and now we're getting an even better weapon?

In the back of the castle, we find an excavation site.

We use the Orb of Light, and a path opens before us.

Inside the behind the barrier, we find another teleporter.

After using it, we find Prompt's sacred pool.

Alright, let's get to it, then.

Another robot appears in our way. This one seems to have a few wires crossed.

Reasoning won't work on a robot, so we do things the old fashioned way... Hitting things until they stop moving!

Other than Chaos himself, we don't have any new enemy types this battle.

4 Jets, 4 Torch Eyes, 4 Ice Worms, 3 Demon Masters, 2 Minotaurs, and Chaos.

It is a bit ironic that we have to break Chaos before we can get the Chaos Breaker, isn't it?

Gillian wastes no time, killing a Demon Master with the first move of the battle.

Musashi moves east in order to stop a couple of Jets from reaching our squishier members.

Guntz + Valkyrie = Ouch.

Lyle finishes off one of the Jets that's battering Kokichi.

While Anri destroys the other.

Bleu eliminates a Torch Eye that went after Gillian.

Gillian is in terrible shape after getting hit by 3 defense-ignoring attacks (1 Ice Breath + 2 Torch Eye blasts), but Torasu patches him up a bit before he can be finished off.

A shame Ice Worms are (obviously) strong against Freeze.

Zylo, Tao, and Arthur clean up after Domingo.

While Guntz takes out an incoming Minotaur.

Before striking the final blow on Chaos, Gillian equips the Sword of Darkness and the Evil Ring. Why, you ask? I'll get to that in a moment.

In the room beyond where we fought, we find yet another sacred pool...

Sounds simple enough. Just use the Sword of Light on the left altar...

And the Sword of Darkness on the right one...

Ooh, a green lightsaber!

As we pick it up, another path opens to us.

We find a teleporter leading out.

Back to why I equipped the Sword of Darkness and Evil Ring, two cursed items.

"Cursed" is a really nasty status effect, and you only get it when using evil items like the Sword of Darkness, Devil Lance, Dark Ring, Evil Ring and so on.

It'll randomly do really nasty things to you, like stunning you as you're about to attack, and causing damage to you before and/or after you swing.

Normally, you have to go to a priest to remove the "Cursed" status, which also un-equips any cursed items. Re-equip them, and you get cursed again.

However, when we used the Sword of Darkness on the altar, it removed it from Gillian's inventory, and cured him of the status effect... Even though he's still wearing the Evil Ring, which acts like a Power Ring that's twice as good (+8 instead of +4 attack). So now he gets to reap all of its benefits with none of its drawbacks.

Anyway, going back to the King...

Alright, it's finally time to take the fight straight to the enemy!
