I read his "SSN" where the US captain sinks a submarine fleet and a half by pre-emptively flooding the torpedo tubes and opening the doors. He sailed about, tubes open until it was time to run the torpedo out of the tube and let it accelerate once further away from the boat.

It worked every time, with Victors, Kilos, Akulas and all.
