Skies of Arcadia: Legends

by Mr. Vile

Part 44: Update 42 – Tyrant

Now that we have all five Moon Crystals, it's time to get them far, far out of reach of Valua. But to do that, we need to get Fina's ship back, and the closest thing we have to a lead is that Valua has started exploring below the clouds on Dangral Island.

And so here it is, hidden below the clouds near Pirate's Isle, right where Gilder said it would be.

It's also close to this...thing here, like a bottomless vortex in the clouds at the bottom of lower sky. Intriguing.

There's nothing we can do with the vortex thing right now, except get confused about there being a Bottomless Pit discovery that has nothing to do with it, so let's head on in to Dangral Island.

I have urgent news that affects all of you.

Hoho...words of wisdom from the Grand Admiral himself? Please...enlighten us?

Those that do not wish to walk this path that I have chosen, leave now. Those that wish to hear my plans, stay.

What? What is this?!

Admiral Galcian! Do you know what you are saying?!

Hahaha... Fear not, Alfonso. I still have my wits about me. I am following my own path. It's your decision whether or not you wish to follow me.

Hehehe... so, Galcian finally shows his true intentions...

Pictured: The stupidest thing Alfonso has ever done.

Pictured: The reason why it is the stupidest thing he has ever done.

What? What do you mean?

Wait, Ramirez... There is no need for you to waste your energy on this whelp. What about the rest of you? Will you follow me?

It doesn't make any difference to me. As long as I get to fight, I don't care who's in charge.

I will stay in the Armada as well. I still haven't finished building the ship that can go into Deep Sky. Also, if I stay in the Armada... I'll probably get to fight Vyse again! Hehehehe!!!

Gregorio... what will you do?

Lord Galcian... what is your goal? I do not think you are seeking the Imperial Throne...what is it you want?

Hahaha...you are correct...that is not my goal. I want more power...more control than Valua has ever had. That is all I will say for now.

What indeed. I'm sure his stated goal of infinite power has nothing to do with the six sources of infinite power the plot thus far as revolved around .

And with that we're off! And run into another cutscene ten seconds into the dungeon when we approach this air vent.

Hm? I can hear someone talking...

Valuan Soldier: Okay, the inspection for this area is done. Let's go to the next one.

(I think that's the control area for the base's power.)

One ladder and a corridor later...

And there goes the power to the entire base.

Except not, because Vyse has it wrong and what the control system does is power down the fan blocking the corridor ahead. Why was there a giant fan of death in the middle of the only corridor leading further into the base? I have no idea.

Presumably these are the same two guards as before, which just raises further questions about the giant death fan and how they got past it .

Valuan Soldier: That's what I hear. But it's not like I understand any of it anyway. It all looks like scribbles to me.

Valuan Soldier: Well, I heard that Lord De Loco was going to take Lord Galcian to take a look around the Chameleon today...

Valuan Soldier: What!? If they see us slacking off here we're done for! Let's get out of here!

You can't really see it in these screenshots, but the Chameleon is docked behind Tweedledum and Tweedledee here. That will be significant soon.

Onwards! For there is plundering to be done!

All the loot in Dangral Island is in one storage room, which I managed to miss and had to backtrack for. More importantly, this Moonberry nets Aika her final Super Move!

Omega Psyclone is a souped-up version of Lambda Storm and does pretty heavy damage to all enemies. The downside is that it costs 12SP, so there's a very narrow window between having enough SP to use it on the first turn and having the 14SP needed to use Rain of Swords on the first turn instead. It's great for what it is, but the existence of Rain of Swords renders it almost useless. Needless to say I'll be showing it off before long, but right now we have to get what we came here for and get out.

And there it is! Dangral Island isn't a particularly large dungeon, which makes sense for it being a newly built research outpost. Sadly, though, there's only so much I can do to flesh out a dungeon made entirely of nondescript linear corridors.

I think you're right, Aika.

All the specs... from the hull to the engine... they're all written here!

This ship is Admiral De Loco's ship, the Chameleon. It appears that his ship is being modified according to these plans.

Well, now that we have this, we might be able to get into Deep Sky. We've gotten what we came here for! Let's get out of here!

Ah, Vyse. Will you not be satisfied until there is nowhere on, under or above the world the Delphinus cannot go?

No, of course not. Silly question, really.

Of course, it was never going to be that easy. Not with the entire Armada's high command wandering around one tiny military base with us.

Hehehe... We are currently strengthening the walls of the bridge...

Increase the speed of the construction. Finish it within the week.

This time, I will be sure to dispose of you all permanently.

Run. Run, run run run!

Actually, scratch that. There's a Moonfish hovering under the nose of the Chameleon, and it's a rather special Moonfish, because it's the last one in the entire game! Maria, here we come!

Now we run.

Damn you, Moonfish!

Galcian!

Heh... not only once, but twice, you escaped from the Grand Fortress. Very impressive. However...do not think you will escape a third time.

Galcian...what is Valua planning to do by building a place like this?

You were the one who threw away your responsibilities and sided with these... pirates.

I did not throw away my responsibilities! I am working to rebuild the Empire!

Heh heh heh... it matters not to me. I have no interest in Valua any more. I shall dispose of you here, once and for all.

This is great...of all people to get caught by...

Rock, meet hard place. Hard place, rock.

Gregorio?!! How ironic... that fate has led us both here to pit sword against sword with one another.

Do not worry. I am not here to fight you.

What? What are you doing?!

Gregorio...you understand the consequences of your actions?

You wish to revive the ancient horrors and use them to make the world yours...

What are you doing?

Prince...you spoke the truth when we last met at Esperanza. The Empire has chosen the wrong path. You and Vyse are the only ones that can stop the Armada. Prince Enrique... let my last act be in your honour.

What are you saying?! We will fight with you!

You must not take Galcian lightly! He is more powerful than you can imagine. And this is a military base of the Armada...if you don't escape soon, we will all be surrounded. If you die here...the world will be doomed. Go...our last hopes lie with you, Young Prince.

And, I will be able to die defending you. I cannot ask for a higher honour.

Wait! Don't do this!!!

Young Prince...Captain Vyse. Please...you must stop Galcian. You are our last hope...

So long, Admiral Ironwall . You will be missed, and later we will mourn your loss, but for now we are going to run like buggery.

With Galcian otherwise occupied there's nothing standing between us and the open skies, but...well.

Valuan Soldier: Lord Galcian! What is going on?!

...Send him back to Valua. And make sure his body is well taken care of. It is worth more than your life.

Valuan Soldier: Yes, Lord Galcian!

Gregorio...you were always the kind to be the last to stay on a sinking ship.
