Sly Cooper and the Thievius Racconus (called Sly Raccon in Europe and Phantom Thief Sly Cooper in Japan) is a game made by Sucker Punch and was released in September 2002 in America for the Playstation 2. Seen as one of the Sony mascot games of the PS2 era, this game follows Sly Cooper and his best friends Bentley and Murray as they try to get back the Thievius Racconus that was stolen from Sly's family, along with the murder of Sly's parents, at an early point in Sly's life. The game spans along five different areas with about eight missions in each one of them.
Much like the other mascot games of the PS2 era (Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank) and probably also due to this game being Sucker Punch's second game, this first game in the Sly Cooper series is very different from its sequels, both in gameplay and in graphics. For example, the gameplay is very linear and very mission based, compared to the sequels that, while still mission based, still manages to retain their open-worldliness. However, this game still manages to be fun, even if it is a bit weird compared to the other Sly Cooper games
So, how will you be presenting this?
- Me and my co-host Serperoth will be showing off this game mission-by-mission. For every mission there will be two videos, one with commentary over cutscenes and one without.
- This is being played on the HD collection re-release, which was made by Sanzaru Games, who would later go on to create Sly Cooper 4
- I will be getting all the collectibles. Getting 100% in this game means you have to do a speed run of every mission and honestly doesn't even unlock anything interesting, meaning I won't show it off.
- As the story is pretty interesting, I'd like it if we kept the spoilers to a minimum, even with spoiler tags. No need to make this thread look like a bar-code after all.

Behind the Scenes
Name: Sly Cooper
Our main hero with kleptomania of this game. Comes from a long line of thieves. Wants to take back the Thievius Racconus and its pages from the Fiendish Five in order to restore the honor of his family's name, to take revenge of them murdering his family and to learn sweet new tricks.
Our technician, hacker, mission finder, mission planner and humongous nerd all in one. Scared of nearly everything in the game, despite sitting in the team van all the time. Loves to talk about circles.
Our hungry, hungry hippo and designated driver of this game. Scared of nearly everything much like Bentley, however he can overcome his fears when it's needed.
Name: Carmelita Montoya Fox
Our main rival. Policewoman that has gotten obsessed with catching Sly and his gang. Have anger management issues. Kind of crap at her job.
Name: The Fiendish Five
A group of EVIL thieves that steal from everyone and do generally EVIL things, unlike Sly & co. who only steal from those who can put up a challenge for a master thief, which isn't EVIL at all. Killed Sly's parents and stole/ripped apart the family heirloom, the Thievius Racconus.
Name: Sir Raleigh the Frog
A noble who decided that being rich wasn't enough and decided to become an eccentric pirate instead. Created an artificial isle triangle near Wales in order to destroy more boats, creating the Welsh Triangle in the process, because Bermuda was apparently not enough. Is the technician in the Fiendish Five crew.
A dog who went from zero to gangster from being bullied at an early age and watching "The Dogfather" one too many times. Took over Mesa City, Utah by chasing out nearly all of its inhabitants, only to set up a giant casino and a fire hydrant penthouse (because he's a dog you see). Is the muscle in the Fiendish Five crew.
Name: Mz. Ruby
An alligator with a taste for voodoo. Kids avoided her as a child, meaning that she had to get friends another way: raising the undead. Terrorizes the world as a way of revenge for not having any normal friends. Wants to take over Mexico or something. Is the mystic person of the Fiendish Five crew, which allowed them to break the laws of man and nature at the same time. Hurray for lawbreaking!
Name: Panda King
A panda who loves to make fireworks above anything else. Sadly, Chinese nobles didn't understand the work he put into his work and dismissed him for being poor and below them. So he made his revenge by burying villages in tons of snow with avalanches started by fireworks and letting villages buy "avalanche protection." Apparently is working on a new firework technique. Is the demolitions expert of the Fiendish Five.
Few things are known about this giant owl, but what we do know is that he is the leader of the Fiendish Five, he somehow lives in the Krack-Karov Volcano in Russia and that shadows looking like him appear in pictures of Sly's ancestors. Is he a part of another line of thieves or is he just very, very old?
