Part 5: The Great Chao Update

The Great Chao Update

Took a while, but everything is done. All the races won, all the karate tournaments beaten, that's it. Egg Jr has reached the top....somewhat.



This same image not even 5 post above this one. This was before he went to race. His stats were already passed Mark's in everything, so there's no way he could lose.

Longer, harder versions of the courses from Beginner. Start out with four and beat each course once and the other two will unlock. Also, instead of 3 levels you have to deal with 5. Just showing off the 5th level races. And just like before, you earn rewards when you beat the 5th level for each course:

Aquamarine - Sonic Doll
Topaz - Broom
Peridot - Picture Book
Garnet - Pogo Stick
Onyx - Box of Crayons
Diamond - Bubbles

It turns out not all the rewards are chao specific. Though these might be, later races you can unlock, any of the chao in the garden can interact with it.

A bunch of gimmick races. You start out with eight and the last four unlock once those eight are beaten. It's mostly the same track with just different racers, sometimes a new track will pop up. Otherwise, it's more of the same. So I've sped up the races and added some music. Still some neat little gimmick racers though. Also, copyright on the Youtube link. Last time I play Crazy Taxi before editing. The rewards:

Fourth Race - Ball
Eighth Race - Jack in the Box
Twelfth Race - T.V

Again, more gimmicks. The restriction here is that you can't use a Dark chao for obvious reasons when you open it up. It's basically a Good VS Evil scenario, with only 4 races against a bunch of Hero Chao. Mark will be the main chao for this one.

It's the Hero Races but in reverse.

And that's it for races. Now time for the funnest (and most frustrating) part.

Once you beat all 3 tourneys, you'll unlock the Super tournament, which you better hope to god you have the patience to grind.

Now with those same stats I posted earlier, Egg Jr was able to beat the first two chao, but always failed against the third chao.



Every single time. That chao has incredible defenses so Egg Jr could barely leave a dent on the chao. The other option to win was to knock it out of the ring, but I'd be lucky if that were to happen. So first thing I did was max out his stats.



This would be nice but his power was still crap. So after much frustration, I had to use the backup chao.

Though he didn't do so well at first. While Egg Jr can't exactly punch worth a shit, he can take a lot of damage. Mark, on the other hand, was the opposite. The first four chao are nothing, but that last chao would just knock him out in a few punches. So a few hours of SAd2 ring grinding later:



And the rest is history.

So that's it. All 180 emblems collected, the secret level unlocked and just about anything else I can think of that isn't chao reincarnation showed off.



Not too bad for a first time through this. Most of those losses from that same chao but still, a good run from the eggster.
