Part 7: PROCAT

– PROCAT

First, a technical note. Gamerstube decided to delete most of my videos, so I’m in the process of uploading to Dailymotion. They’ll all be available again soon.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have the option of extraordinary rendition to some third-world shitheap where Ying’s fingernails could be removed one-by-one for the good of representative democracy.

Good Cop won by a handy margin, but I’ll try to put together an alternate run with the Bullpen sometime soon.

Ying’s interrogation can be a frustrating process. It tends to loop through the same responses if you don’t select the correct prompt at the right time. We’ll explore a few paths.

Thanks. I’ll have a chat with her.

I hope you get the information you need. Give me a call on the intercom if you need anything.

Our first run-through will be done as if we didn’t have the photoshopped picture of Grendel. We’ll just try to strong-arm her.

If you want to get out of here, tell me about the PEG theft.

Take a hike, you’ve got nothing.

Work with me, or I turn you over to the SVR.

From one buffoon agency to another.

I might have to get a bit tougher with you.

Take a hike, you’ve got nothing.

At this point we could have Max move her to the Bullpen, or end the session. In the next run-through, we have the photo, but it’s poorly photoshopped.

Take a look at this. I’ve got Grendel. Let’s talk.

An interesting deal. But I don’t think you’ve got Grendel.

I may be smarter than you think. I’ve got your boyfriend.

You’ve got nothing!

I bet Grendel’s going to get lonely rotting in his cell.

*spits in Thorn’s face*

Think I’ll go wipe my face. I’ll see if Grendel wants to cooperate.

Well, that was pleasant. Let’s do it the right way, with the right photo.

Take a look at this. I’ve got Grendel. Let’s talk.

*takes photo, looks it over*

I’m listening.

Here’s the deal. You’ve got some options…

What are my choices?

Speak up, or Grendel goes to a gulag. For life.

I’m listening.

Grendel’s talking, Raven. This is your only chance to come clean.

I’m listening.

If you tell the truth, Grendel joins you in freedom.

What you do want to know?

What was your role in the PEG theft?

I was to steal and deliver the PEG to Felix Skodi in Bentonhurst, Brooklyn. He was a real jerk, tried to kiss me – I nearly killed him. Now I may have.

What else can you tell me about Skodi?

I don’t know anything else.

Who do you work for?

I’ve done some contract work for a group called PROCAT. It’s a paycheck. A big paycheck.

I don’t know anything else.

I told you, I don’t know anything more! Can I go now?

So we finally got Ying to crack. Time to check in.

Strange behavior from Holt? That may be a lead in our mole hunt.

There’s a ton of info to digest here.

Melnachov is the founder of PROCAT.

He was killed by MI6’s man John Blake. And Holt was there when it happened.

And Holt seems to think that PROCAT died with its founder.

We have background intel on all known PROCAT operations.

Persuasion

Heartland

John the Baptist

Muzzle

Vigilance

Got all that? PROCAT are bad guys.

More communications.

It’s Warhurst. Jaimie has patched us into the image database so that I can talk you through this. We just received these from the ATF. Those people had no leads until you captured Ying.

This is where the PEG fell into Skodi’s hands. And, probably, Harmonica’s. Abandoned warehouse in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. That’s Felix Skodi, the arms dealer Ying told you about. Been a heroin broker and a money launderer, but gunrunning is his first love.

The buyers usually end up like this. The ATF has been watching Skodi for months, but he slipped away after this deal went sour. Thorn, I’m afraid that’s not the half of it. Skodi killed these men without firing a shot. Marco Febrizi, apparently the middle man. He and his partners all died of massive coronary arrest. At least that’s what the medical examiner says. And there were no bullets or bullet holes to be found. Nothing.

I realize it sounds impossible, but you already know about silent kills. This new weapon gets the same result with no projectile at all. Looks like he rested it there, and used this for power. Check your ATF weblink for a report from the lead agent. It says there was a concentrated high-frequency burst at the scene before they moved in. Skodi escaped here. He was killed later, just outside Minsk.

Thorn, this new weapon is out there, probably in Harmonica’s hands. I don’t need to tell you what that means. I’ve circulated these pictures via Interpol and the State Department. Right now, Harmonica is the most wanted man in the world. Good luck out there.

A weapon that instantly causes heart attacks? Gentleman, it appears the Russians have weaponized the Baconator.

Oh yeah, we also have the mole hunt to worry about.

This is where we stand. We’ve eliminated most of the low-level Agency employees from the list of possible moles, but that’s not surprising. Our mole has access, directly or otherwise, to high-level information. I’ll keep you informed.

Eclipse now has a second data point.

Only DCI and Operations had access to information on both PROCAT and the PEG.

Warhurst, Russia Ops, and Special Ops had access to both.

No group in Russia Ops had access to both.

Team Eagle Shield did have access to both.

But Holt only had access to PROCAT info.

So maybe Holt isn’t our mole. Or maybe he got access to PEG info outside the normal channels. Or maybe Colby’s suppressing something. Yeah, we’ve got nothing.

And there are other major issues. We’ve still got to meet with Birdsong to get more intel on the possible Presidential assassination. And where’s Harmonica? And Grendel? And maybe we can track down John Blake and try to sort out his (and Holt’s connection) with Melnachov and PROCAT.
