Steel Panthers: Main Battle Tank

Operation Red Afternoon: Turn 1

As suspected, the T-80's are really suppressed. Both rally attempts fail, but that isn't worrying, we have several more chances.

Because obtaining a decent overwatch position is so critical to the mission, the first turn is just moving units forward towards the hilly areas. If we can seize these locations, enemy air superiority will be a non-issue.

All of our units move forwards except two, that is. My main concern here is that for every turn they retreat, they will be roughly two turns behind the main force. Having tanks doesn't matter if they are a few kilometers away from the battle Although our T-80's can shoot almost all the way across the map, either way.

Come to think about it, we may want to consider spacing out our forces. It would make sense in an open armoured engagement like this.

After our first turn, a NATO F-111F flies overhead and delivers a cluster bomb assault. It managed to not destroy any vehicles (I believe, it's hard to track bombing runs), but one of our vehicles is retreating.

This is surprising, because these AP cluster bombs look like heavy hitters. I'm pretty sure we really lucked out with that last one.

I think Ursinius is attempting an all-out aerial assault. If he sends 1000 points worth of aircraft at us without destroying anything, that's going to be a huge disadvantage for him that may cost him the battle before it begins.
