Part 40: Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 15

Man, I must have missed two or three days in a row; such is the beginning of a new semester. My apologies, in any case, here is more of the soul-crushing defeat that I am sure you missed dearly.

Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 15

The reinforcing platoon will actually see combat this turn, which I find hilarious because we've basically already lost. I could probably win this match if I used disgusting amounts of luck manipulation, but beyond that, there's no hope in hell.

Another T-34 is destroyed. Honestly, the AI in this game is so terrible at properly using armour in offensive conditions, that replacing every single infantry squad with a tank might even make this mission easier.

And during the enemy turn, things manage to get eve- bwuh? What? As soon as the enemy turn began, the screen zoomed in, and it zoomed back out as soon as the turn ended. Replaying the turn only repeats the phenomenon. This can only mean the computer knows it has already won, and is now trying to get inside of my head to secure victory in future matches. It know. It knows!

But really, nothing odd happens this turn, the enemy advances a bit more and we become a bit more screwed.

The reinforcing platoon does a good job of preventing the enemy from outmaneuvering us to the north, and they kill a bunch of them while doing it. I wish they were scripted to arrive at a reasonable moment in the battle so that would actually matter.

Also, the fighters attack the enemy infantry cluster. They only kill about 4 or 5 of them, but they do their job because EVERY SINGLE ENEMY UNIT is pinned next turn save for 1 or 2 to the very far north.

All in all, not a bad turn considering how bad of a place we're in right now.

Which isn't to say this situation is any less worse than it is. The southern ridge has been completely overrun and enveloped, and the center has been veiled in a thick net of smoke through which scores of enemies come every turn. This means the screencap of the huge enemy blob moving forwards like a glacier is actually our strongest point.

This is the last call for editing the mission to give all of the marines M16A4 ACOGs.
