Part 49: Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 24

Hm, I guess I'm up for an amphibious invasion, but didn't even the manual say that they were terribly, terribly imbalanced (And that once the defenders got access to advanced optics, it basically amounted to a turkey shoot)?

Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 24

For what may be the last time, we launch a full round of attacks against the North Korean force. However, the enemy is gaining a significant amount of ground despite our best efforts, so we may need to issue a second tactical retreat for the last couple of turns.

The Marines on the ridge get on last, good kick in, though. What may be the last T-34 in the enemy force is now a pile of burning slag.

This should remind the enemy that no matter what they can take from us, this was our ridge and we will hold it until the end of time (by which I mean, for two more turns).

The enemy barrage is - this turn - focused on the central line of defense at the village. This seems like an odd decision seeing as how there are still marines holding the ridge. Still, I'd like to hold the command points near to the HQ so the enemy can't capture them all.

The enemy is taking significant overwatch fire to the North, but they've already pushed through there, so every action there is pretty meaningless.

Our infantry force defending the area is taking heavy fire as well, so I think some tactical withdrawals are in order next turn. Saving whoever we can is a priority now that the only enemies of interest are those right in front of the defensive line.

Even though there are a few massive blobs of enemies crawling towards the ridge, infiltrating forces such as this one pose much more of a threat to our chances of victory. Thankfully, these men walk right into the firing arc of a .50 Cal MG Section and get cut down.

I'm not even going to show the third forces tab because everything there is either dead or a tank.

There are only a couple of turns left until the match ends. I'm hoping simply holding the ridge will mean we win the mission, but who knows? All we can do now is kill whoever we can and save whoever we can.
