Part 67: November Cod Crisis: Canadian Turn 8

Keep at it. There's no real point in changing the general plan now:

Good point. I suppose I'll start updating regularly regardless of how much advice I do or do not get (However, any input is appreciated as always).

November Cod Crisis: Canadian Turn 8

This turn was fairly normal, other than we may have taken our first major step towards a breakthrough in the west.

Our northern force moves as far up as it possibly can without being fired upon. By the way, the time to decide what to do with it is now. If we really wanted, we could probably sacrifice a few men to take out the Anti-Aircraft gun or the Centurion tank.

The westernmost infantry in our force move upwards preparing for the kill as soon as the HMG team is suppressed. After witnessing the last battle, both Sam. and I have been using the tactic of suppressing and finishing enemy targets. However, our forward troops will never get that chance.

I cannot imagine how much Sam. hates the Random Number God by now, because on top of everything else, a stray bullet from a Paratrooper Section kills the last member* of the MG team. I think the hit chance was 5% or something. I hope we don't suffer luck karma in the next few turns (although this entire match could be luck karma for Urcinius).

As a result of this, our western force is now flooding out in the open. There is a plume of smoke separating the troops from the Centurion (or at least, from where the Centurion was; who knows where it is now), meaning they are now completely unopposed save for a single AA gun with no LOS on them.

Some of you may notice that this screenshot says Turn 9. I assure you this is not a result of a glitch or me cheating. One of the screencaps got corrupted, so I had to go in and retake it after I had already ended my turn and sent the files to Sam., so I used the quit orders option, thereby making sure that I didn't see or influence any of Sam's units.

In any case, our eastern force has moved to the north by a few hexes. A Danish Bazooka Team (or rather, Danish Bazooka holder, one of them is dead) was ambushed by a pair of MAW teams, and a Para Section. There are some more Danish infantry to the north.

The southernmost part of our force has taken cover in the houses off of the main road, providing them both:

- Protection from those god-forsaken Panzer III turrets, and
- The possibility of ambushing any enemy units that come their way.

Overall, I would say this was a pretty average turn. If not for the lucky shot on the MG Team, there would be little to write about. In any case, it should be a few hours before Sam. reports back.

*There was only one guy in that section, so there was a single person operating two Heavy Machineguns at the same time! How come Steel Panthers is so intricate and realistic in so many ways, but infantry realism is a joke? There's no body armour, and there aren't really squads so much as a single person with up to 10 heads, 20 arms, but only up to 4 weapons to use in them.
