Part 23: Chapter 7-1

Chapter 7: In Which The End

So when we last left Vickie, she had discovered a secret torture chamber slash whorehouse with an interesting guest list. One of whom was her boss Obstructive Police Chief Browning, and another of whom was Mark Ackerman, our favorite serial killer. Who should be like a hundred years old by now.

Anyway, buckle up, because Richard is going to comically miss the point of some paintings.

rape and suffering. Note the position of the man in this painting – He is vulnerable, weak and exposed. Is this how Ackerman himself felt at the time?

No, from the looks of him, he was alternately smarmy and then demonically possessed.

grays and blacks, the colours…of death. The woman’s eyes are missing, perhaps representing increasing confusion and anger towards the women in his life.

The mystery girl by the reservoir. I have seen it said that Apolina was either this girl or the pile of body parts in the sewer, though the painting doesn’t really look like her. Oh well.

No telling who this one is yet.

You might recall that “A Sinner’s Pardon” was written next to Steph, who just got killed like an hour ago. Strange.

continue. This is mirrored in the painting, where the woman depicted, seems unwilling to react to the approaching danger.

subject is unaware of this window to freedom and remains a prisoner.

village idiot. It is obvious that Mark had no respect or admiration for this man.

darkness that surrounds her sanctuary of light.

And this one resembles Jack, except it isn’t her as she isn’t bald and has no tattoos.

And Richard finally wanders off. Let’s talk to Mia.

“Mia, do you feel up for a few questions?”

“Can you tell me; is this you in the picture?”

This would be the photo of Mia we found on Steph, with “She’s next!” scribbled on the back.

“Where and when was it taken?”

“Who were you with?”

“Sorry…Mia. Stephanie was with you?”

“How did you meet Stephanie?”

“So you, Cynthia and Stephanie worked at the club?”

“Who’s the fourth girl?”

“You were Lady Temptation?”

“What went on at the club?”

“Change their clothes?”

Metal Gear?

“Masks?”

Stop that!

“Thanks, Mia. I want you to stay with Richard for a while, cause I might have more questions for you. Is that all right with you?”

So now we’ll jog on over to Richard.

“Do you have any more information about Mark Ackerman?”

“May I have a copy?”

“It has something to do with my case.”

“The killer left two messages at two of the crime scenes. ‘Disturbed Sanctuary’ and ‘A Sinner’s Pardon’ were written on the walls. I didn’t know what they meant until now.”

“Yes.”

“That’s why you have to give me a list of all the people who sold you the paintings, and a list of the people from the Fine Arts departments who are involved in this project. Can you do that for me?”

“Thanks. See you later.”

So while Richard does that, we can go over here and check out that book from Fine Arts.

…but it isn’t terribly helpful right now. It’s a list of Ackerman’s paintings.

And that’s it for here. We’ll go to the Office now, as Browning has some ‘splainin to do.
