Part 13: More Recruitment!

Chapter 13 - More Recruitment!

Welcome back. When we last left our heroes, they had finally made it into Muse. Let's see if they can meet anyone interesting here.

"Well, please take care of Pilika. She seems to be tired from the long trip."

"Leave it to me. But you don't want to keep Viktor waiting."

Yeah, well, too bad, Viktor!

"I'm fine."

"Thank goodness. It looks like Captain Gengen was okay too."

"It was horrible."

"Are you hurt anywhere? I can ask Dr. Huan, and he'll fix it for you right away."

"Tuta, listen to me. There's going to be another big war. I'm sorry to get you involved, but we'll need a doctor."

"Yes, Dr. Huan."

"Tuta, go to Viktor's place and help out."

"Huh? But I'm not yet..."

"It's all right. You just need a little more experience. Good luck."

"Yes, Dr. Huan."

"Riou, please take good care of Tuta."

"Okay, I'll be in Leona's place."

Anita is... one of the more annoying people in this game to recruit. You basically have to talk to her a hojillion times and hope she gives you very specific questions.

"Something is about to explode. If I stick around here, I bet I'll have a chance to use my sword after all."

"Excuse me, young man. My glass of wine is empty. Could you get me some more?"

"Thank you. It's good for a man to be nice to a lady. Hee hee."

"I could work for the Toran government too... But that woman..."

"What is it? A female swordsman isn't so rare, is it?"

"That's true." or "......."

"War is coming. Everyone who wants peace has fled, everyone who wants to make a name for themselves has gathered. That's the way it is."

"But I've never seen one so beautiful."

"Hah! What a charming young man you are."

Eventually, you'll see this dialouge box.

"C'mon, join our group."

"I guess you're right. I'm not gonna improve my swordsmanship sitting around in a tavern. I wouldn't do it for anyone but you, so okay... I'll join."

"I... I... how about a date?"

"...!! Ha ha ha! You're a funny kid. Okay, we'll go on a date. So when we go out for our date, are you going to do something nice for me?"

NOW we go meet Viktor.

"Who are we going to meet?"

"Well, you'll find out soon enough. C'mon let's go."

"Y, yes, Immediately. As usual, Lady Anabelle, your judgement is beyond reproach."

"I don't need your brown-nosing. Leave now. I've no time for people whose mouths are faster than their feet."

"Y, yes!"

"Whew... Oh, Viktor, you came."

"I've seen you at work a hundred times, but you still surprise me."

"So is it true? I heard you lost your fort."

"Yeah. Lost a lot more, too."

"Well, it didn't take them long to break the peace treaty... This Luca Blight is a true beast. I'm afraid this war won't end until either the State of the Highland Kingdom is in ruins."

"He's insane. He's a wolf raised on the smell of fire and the taste of blood. He can't be trusted."

"So what brings you here? I see you've got three children along with you."

"Yeah. Riou, Jowy and the tomboy is Nanami. It's these kids plus another little one named Pilika. Can you take four more? I'd take them with me, but you never know when war will break out."

"Yeah, you can't take kids into a battle with you... but... Jowy? Jowy Atreides?"

"How do you know my name?"

"There's a country nobleman in Kyaro with a son by that name. Isn't that right, Jess?"

"The older of two sons. He's currently a fugitive from Highland charged with high treason."

"And you... Riou and Nanami. Riou, was your adopted father named Genkaku?"

"What? How did you know? How do you know about Grandpa Genkaku?"

"I heard that Master Genkaku adopted two children. I think their names were Riou and Nanami."

"'Master' Genkaku?"

"You don't mean..."

"Viktor, I'll tell them later. For right now, is Master Genkaku in good health?"

"Grandpa... Genkaku died last year."

"I see... So we weren't ever able to atone for our crimes against him. Well... let's talk about that when we have more time. Right now I've got to worry about the Highland army. Jess, I'm leaving these three in your care."

"Yes, My Lady. Understood."

"See ya later. Maybe I'll drop in on you."

"I'll look forward to it."

"Well then, Riou, Jowy, Nanami. Feel free to walk around City Hall and even speak with the guards. ( ) But do not disturb Lady Anabelle. If you need something, speak to me. Excuse me now, I have work to finish."

We obviously don't get to explore much, but hey.

"What are you talking about? These are for Youth Brigade uniforms. What can we do with these...?"

"What is it? What's going on?"

"...............Riou, Jowy. I have a request. Will you listen?"

"What is it?"

"Luca Blight's army is camped out near the border between Muse and Highland. They'll attack us here in Muse next. I'd like to know how many provisions they have with them. We've got some Youth Brigade uniforms to help you sneak in. Riou, Jowy, you were in the Youth Brigade, right? We don't have any other uniforms, so would you do it for us?"

"So you want us to sneak into the Highland Army camp and find out how many provisions they have... Is that right?"

"Whaaat?? Couldn't that be dangerous?!"

"Well, um... a little... But it would be a big help for Muse. We could find out how many provisions that have. That will tell us whether they're planning a long siege or a quick, all out attack."

"What about it, Riou?"

"Sorry, but no way."

"It'll be okay. The Highland Army isn't expecting anything like this and all you have to do is peek into their supply tent."

"Sorry, but no way."

"If it's for Muse... No, if it's to defeat Luca, I think we should do it."

"Sorry, but no way."

"I see. I won't force you, but if you change your mind, come back here."

"We'll do it."

"What!? That's dangerous!"

"Really? Thank you. You're the pride of Muse. Here are the uniforms. I guess you know how to put them on. To get to the Highland border, follow the road to the northeast. I'll tell the guards you're coming."

"Well, I've got no choice. I'd be worried about you two if I didn't go, so I'll just have to go with you."

"Okay, let's stop by Leona's tavern and get some others to join us."

"Well, actually..."

"Hmm... that doesn't sound like a very good idea, does it?"

"Even if it's just a little, I'd still like to do my part to help out."

"Well, go try your best. But remember,t here is such a thing as trying too hard. I want you to take some friends with you to the Highland camp."

So we've got three people to add to the party. These don't count towards not being able to be used, as the actual journey isn't very long, but hey.

In addition to those listed, we also have Shiro, Rikimaru and Tuta available to take with us.
