Part 22: Bustin Makes Me Feel Good

Where is the Ring of Darkness?

Guardian of the Stone Portal: The Ring is not finished. The masters of the forge have had trouble carving this Ring, and the enchantments of darkness are strange to us.

Not finished?

Guardian of the Stone Portal: You must give us time, Sahugani. When you have captured the demons of Stone and Light, perhaps the Ring of Darkness will be ready.

So we get two more of the Rings, time to catch some more demons! Speaking of, we had some upgrades drop from Pyrul.

Looking good. This game is really really stingy with gear for Rosalind, she only gets upgrades in the final third of the game.

Damn, look at this beggar just sitting casually as skeletons and lichs roam around.

Seriously, these two guys must have enourmous balls.

Pyrtin: Dead, I fear. Few are counted among the living here. Only the strongest have survived.

Übermensch such as myself and Durgan, capable of openly lounging in front of the armies of the dead undisturbed.

I needed his help getting some seeds to grow.

Pyrtin: The 'Dust of Aahur' will make your seeds grow.

Do you have any?

Pyrtin: Yes, but it may not be easy to find?

Why not?

Pyrtin: I left it on the island of Iona. I had traveled there to find sanctuary from the demons, but soon I discovered that the island is now the lair of Luminar, demon of Light. In my haste to flee Iona, I dropped the 'Dust of Aahur.' If you go there, perhaps you will find it.

With that information, it becomes an easy choice of which demon to pursue first. Let's return to the thoroughly haunted monastery.

Since Luminar has taken permanent residence, skeleton kings have appeared now. They are one of the deadliest common enemies, with very high damage and every hit has a chance of cursing which further increases the damage they deal.

They also shoot the claw way out. Have to be careful with Flece or Rosalind when skeleton kings are about, as they can get taken out in about 2 or 3 hits. They also give a nice chunk of xp with pushes the two rings over the 60k mark.

The wraith is another casting centric summon, which doesn't hold up well with the monstrous skeleton kings running around.

The Blade of Urath is a fun one to run around as, very fast and good damage, but really brittle, which again, doesn't hold up well against these late game foes.

In the tower where Abbot Laurent stayed we find out magical seed dust.

One of the best things about this point in the game, our team is practically invulnerable to magic, so I end up throwing down fire walls anywhere and everywhere.

In the upper courtyard, we find a living soul, though it is not Yago. Remember this conversation way back when? Happier times with Abbot Laurent.

Iodir the heretic: I am Iodir, the last adherent of the Gahnic heresy.

The Gahnic heresy?

Iodir the heretic: Have you never heard of the Gahnic heresy? No matter. As far as history is concerned, we perished in the crusades.

The crusades?

Iodir the heretic: Three hundred years ago, the heirophant of Urath declared war against my people. The armies of the temple razed our villages, put our children to the sword, and drove the survivors into hiding.

Heirophant?

Iodir the heretic: Ruthless are the priests of Urath. The history of Medeva is a tale of heresies, crusades, and inquisitions. They uphold their dogma by the sword. Those who dissent are slain in body and word. The Iohnan heresy, the Solirian crusade, the inquisition of Varosaa. All the synods and councils that denounced those who strayed from their doctrines. Such is the legacy of the Urathi. A temple made of bones. A priesthood anointed in blood.

What happened after the crusades?

Iodir the heretic: Our faith has endured in secrecy. With each passing generation, the circle of adherents grows smaller and smaller. Now I am all that is left of our heresy.

Your faith?

Iodir the heretic: The order of Urath will have you think there are only four gods: Urath, Vadagar, Amasido, and Laharah. They will have you think the gods abandoned creation, by death or by exile.

Is this not true?

Iodir the heretic: There are more divinities than grains of sand. They inahbit each drop of rain and every fallen leaf. To the faithful they reveal themselves in all things.

Why did you come to Iona?

Iodir the heretic: The monks of Iona are the only sect to oppose the Urathi priesthood and survive. In the Great Library I hoped to find the book of wisdom. Alas, the library is now a demon's lair.

The book of wisdom?

Iodir the heretic: The tome of Gahnis, the book that inspired our heresy. It vanished after the crusades, and we prayed it would find its way here, to this island.

Give him the tome of Gahnis.

Iodir the heretic: The pilgrim finds his way, though he knows not the path. The gods reveal themselves in all things. I give you this medallion as a token of my gratitude.

Some nice horizon broadening.

Time to go bust some heads, in a spiritual sense.

Soundtrack - Boss ~ Luminar

Man they are just not impressed in the slightest.

Luminar is a fun fight for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, he can fire kamehamehas.

Second, he can pick people up and chuck them across the room.

He can even attack while holding someone, it's really great.

I also decided that Dai, the forest dragon was his counter and pulled him into action. Jekhar just accepts what is happening.

WAAAAAGH!

The summon was perfectly timed for this! But, all good things must come to an end.

Don't look directly into the trap!

I looked at the trap, Joseph!
