Summoner

by Gildiss

Part 23: Jesus Christ, Marie. He's a mineral.

Soundtrack - World Map

We are scouring the map for a certain individual. We find some gypsies wandering merchants along the way.

End of the world sale! Everything must go! A demon killed my manager allowing me to give you these insane deals!

We pick up a nice ring for Flece from the gypsies.

No idea what this green thing is though.

King of Talas: A realm beyond the sea. My kingdom has no place or name on the maps of your people. The world is vast and cruel.

Vast and cruel?

King of Talas: When I ruled my domain, I imagined the world extended no further than what I could see from the highest tower of my palace. But now I have seen places you never dreamed possible.

Never dreamed possible?

King of Talas: How long have I journeyed? Twenty years? Fifty? A hundred? I have seen every realm under Elaadi's watchful eye. For you there is only Medeva and Orenia. Your world is small. There is so much you will never see.

Where have you traveled?

King of Talas: Places too numerous to name. Kingdoms whose names I've forgotten. The cities of the Iomani and the empire of the blood-worshippers. The cold mountains of Gyre and the desert of thirty suns. For seven years I languished in the tower of the Pelican King.

What are you looking for?

King of Talas: My crown and scepter, for how is a king to rule without them? Exquisite they were, crafted from the purest gold and bejeweled with gems the gods themselves would envy.

Crown and scepter?

King of Talas: They were stolen from my palace by a devil, an evil trickster. For all I know, you may be the thief, and you mock me with your questions. Things are never as they seem. I have wandered these lands for years upon years. I have seen all there is to see, and I desire nothing more than to return home. If you can help me... Ah, nevermind. I mustn't hope.

If I can help you?

King of Talas: If you find the jewels I seek, I shall reward you with all a poor king can give.

Sewer trip #5.

We also went down to the further depths of the sewers to the bacite camp for this.

Elarh the merchant: So this dust will help the seeds grow? I will take you at your word, Sahugani. Here is the 50,000 we agreed upon.

But we agreed upon 100,000 gold!

Elarh the merchant: Why, so we did. Sorry, my mistake. Here is the balance of what I owe you. The 'Seeds of Aahur' may be the last hope for Saanavarh. I pray the dust you brought us will make the seeds grow on this barren rock.

The threat of starvation has loosened his wallet a bit!

Saato the priestess: The horn of Vadagar! Tell no one of this. I will bring it to the Ulsadana, and she will decide what must be done. Where did you find it?

In the sewers below Lenele.

Saato the priestess: An ancient place that is. What you call 'the sewers' was the foundation of Ilaosi, the City of Gods. The portal to Laharah's realm must lie within its chambers.

Portal?

Saato the priestess: No matter, Sahugani. If the gods sealed the portal, only they have the power to open it. These are not questions for mortal minds. I promised a reward, and a reward I will give you.

Think I will think about it like that everytime I flush now. Opening a portal to Laharah's realm of ghosts and phantoms.

We get a new matching piece of armor for Joseph though, looking good.

Uligo the artisan: Talas, Quersia, Morovek. On our maps, these kingdoms are swallowed by the dragons of oblivion, guardian's of the world's edge.

I met the King of Talas.

Uligo the artisan: How is that possible? If you traveled to Talas you would return an old man. Where did you see this king?

In Medeva.

Uligo the artisan: Ah, he was searching for his crown and scepter?

Yes. How did you know?

Uligo the artisan: Because we made them, and we took them away,

You made them?

Uligo the artisan: Long ago, a knight of Talas came to Saanavarh. His king had heard about the wonders of the Khosani's art, and he sent his emissary to acquire jewels for the crown. The Khosani agreed to do the work. So remarkable were these jewels that they would bring peace to Talas for eight hundred years.

Eight hundred years?

Uligo the artisan: Yes, and after this time had passed, the jewels would return to Saanavarh, unless the King of Talas performed a simple task.

What did the king have to do?

Uligo the artisan: The King of Talas, or one of his descendents, had to come in person and thank the Khosani for their gift.

What happened?

Uligo the artisan: Eight hundred years passed, and the King of Talas never came. Thus the crown and scepter returned to Saanavarh.

How did they return?

Uligo the artisan: The jewels were enchanted with a spirit, commanded to return here if the Kings of Talas failed to make the journey.

What must the king do now?

Uligo the artisan: If he comes to Saanavarh and begs forgiveness from the Ulsadana, she might return the jewels. Talas would then enjoy another eight hundred years years of prosperity.

*You tell the king what the artisan said: If he wants his crown and scepter back, he must apologize to the Khosani and thank them for their gift.*

King of Talas: A strange tale this is. But I will follow your advice. The Kings of Talas fulfill their promises. If we failed to do so, it was not for want of gratitude. Memories fade and words are lost.

And with that business done, we've got some gravel to make.

Titus

A parched desert of cracked earth sprawled around the palace of Ikaemos.

The very waters that swallowed the Priest-King's empire had turned to dust.

And Titus, Demon of Stone, gathered his warriors to march on the empire of Orenia.
Such was the demon's power that rock and stone would move by his will alone.

Soundtrack - Ikaemos Swamp

Glorious return to the, now, not-swamp. Now we can walk right across without having to navigate the winding maze of dry land.

Decide to pull out the minotaur and get Jekhar juiced up.

This is one of Titus' stone soldiers. Jekhar is essentially a jackhammer against them though, every parry and they get a counter attack to the face.

We find another piece of end gear for Joseph.

That middle head looks like he is having a great time!

We find the final carving for the Khosani map out here. They weren't always stereotypical dwarves! You know, outside of their insane shark faces.

The main entrance to the palace is now blocked

Which is actually nice for us, there is now a shortcut directly to Titus around the side.

Soundtrack - Boss ~ Titus

We are not amused.

Look at those funky little legs! The designs for all of these demons are pretty unique.

Being made of rocks minerals, I thought it best to pull out the four winds dragon to weather him down.

Titus is all about knocking you down. This is his area fist pound that knocks down anyone nearby.

And when he does this, he is preparing to charge and flatten anyone in his path.

He seriously loves knocking people down.

This is his last move that he waited to do at the same moment he died. It creates a large burst of rock spikes around him, as you will see from the cutscene.

Jekhar's glorious aura is visible for this one moment.

Another one bites the dust.

Titus himself drops the Summoner tunic, doesn't look as cool though, so it gets neglected.

There are also upgrades for Jekhar and Rosalind hidden in the far corners of this chamber.

Only one demon left.
