Summoner

Part 25: Sahugani

Let's see if the Khosani have finished making the Ring of Darkness.

Guardian of the Stone Portal: Before I give you the Ring, you must appear before the Ulsadana. She and the council are waiting.

Ulsadana: The Guardian of the Stone Portal will give you the Ring. First, you must learn the destiny of the Sahugani.

Destiny?

Ulsadana: Do you remember how I told you that a shard of the god Urath lies within you and these eight beings, the dragons and demons?

Yes, I remember.

Ulsadana: Once you have captured the Demon of Darkness, it will be within your power to unite the nine beings into one god. With the eight Rings, immerse yourself in the Forge of Urath, beneath the high temple of Lenele.

What will happen?

I don't know Joseph, maybe the trial run you did with your hand can help inform you?

Ulsadana: As the flames consume you and the Rings, Urath will be made whole again. You, Joseph, will no longer live as a mortal man. You will become a god.

On our way to Lenele we run into something that is not expected...

These are, uh, cabbits.

Like the cabbit says, we are reenacting the battle of Wolong on the side of the Jade Temple once again.

The cabbits have incredibly high damage, but very low health. Flece gets completely blitzed.

They bounce around like crazy too.

They even drop loot!

So, yes. This is the developer area / easter egg zone. Let's soak it in.

And now for something completely different.

Our final trek to Lenele. You know what that means...

Sewer trip #8.

I think there are even more enemies in the crown district than when Jekhar and Rosalind fought through here. On top of the sea of liches and mummies there are now black knights everywhere.
But none of that can stop us from reaching our goal.

Machival

At last, the origin of of Joseph's power had been revealed to him. Within the very core of his being, there lay a shard of Urath's soul.

And together with the dragons and demons the god could be reborn.

Once he immersed himself within the forge below the temple, Joseph the Sahugani would be no more. He would become a god.

In the twilight of the third araenugeth...

The goddess Laharah carved her brother into nine pieces.

Four dragons, four demons, and one Summoner.

Muahahah! You cannot defeat me, Joseph.

Not all your Rings combined can match my power!

For I am Machival, the Demon of Darkness!

I do not fear you.

The Ulsadana has revealed to me the origin of my power.

Indeed, we are brothers from the same source.

Urath, God of the Sudani, a god at war with himself! Creator and destroyer, but Laharah murdered him! And now we are free!

When I have vanquished you, it will be within my power to bring him back.

In the Forge of Urath, the nine shall become one, as the Ulsadana has foretold.

Soundtrack - Boss ~ Machival

Machival first takes the form of Urath, I'm guessing of the 'Destroyer' variation.

He can cast dark spells, which we are immune to thanks to maxed out magic resists, and this area curse spell.

I have found the best way of going about this stage is to blast the shit out of him with the jade dragon. Since once he takes enough damage, he flies to one of the side balconies.

Which means we all need to run up to continue punching him.

Unfortunately the stairs are guarded by black knights that will continue to resurrect.

Then he floats on back down after a few hits up there, if any. Quite annoying. Blasting him with the dragon ensures this happens only once.

My uh, game had a glitch during this section.

Machival's second form is far more punchable. Time for the team to take out their frustrations with Joseph.

Jekhar is really enjoying himself.

Flece takes the opportunity to get a guilt-free backstab in.

Machival shares the fist slam move with Titus and uses it to great effect.

I don't even know what this is supposed to do. Whatever it is, it didn't work!

This is dropped from the dark clone of Joseph, so let's use it on him.

And this wouldn't be right if we finished him any other way.

No, wait. This is the right way to finish it.

We have done it. The demons have been recaptured. There is now a decision before Joseph. Let's see what the rest of the group thinks.

Soundtrack - Questions

Urath has been dead for over ten thousand years! To the gods, what is ten thousand more? You are a strong leader, Joseph. Help us rebuild Medeva.

What about the Ulsadana?

She would not try to deceive you. The last thing the Khosani desire is for you to unleash the dragons and demons again. But what if she is wrong?

When Urath returns, then order and peace will come to this world. The god will finish what he failed to do in the third araenugeth.

What he failed to do?

He will destroy Laharah and free the souls of the dead from their prison. Only Urath can free the dead, and only you can bring him back.

If you leap into the forge then you, the dragons, and the demons will be no more. You will become Urath, God of the Sudani. But the decision is yours.

The decision is mine?

No matter your choice, you are a hero among heroes. Your legend shall endure long after the songs of Carados and Galerus are forgotten. I am honored to have fought by your side.

I like how the party each stands on a side for this. Jekhar, of course, takes the famed witcher's neutrality option further bolstering his awesome status.
I also appreciate the fact that there is an option at all. Though the differences are minor, it is there and available to us. Something that you don't expect in a game like this, especially during this era.

Joseph Embraces Destiny

And so the enemies of the Summoner: Murod, Sornehan, Galienne, and the four demons were at last defeated. Their ambition to storm the kingdom of heaven foiled.

Across Orenia they celebrated the crowning of their new Emperess. In Wolong, the festival of the dragon lasted a year and a day.

In Lenele, and all the towns and villages of Medeva, they rebuilt their kingdom from the ruins of the old.

The Khosani gave thanks to Vadagar. The coming of the second chaos had been stopped, and demons would torment them no longer.

Now you know how Jekhar, crowned the new Duke of Tarhimun, founded the legendary house of Galadorn.

And how Rosalind formed a new order upon the rubble of the Iona Monastery.

And how Qifeng crowned her daughter, Sihua.

Who ruled as the first Queen and Emperess of Medeva and Orenia.

And how a cottar from Ciran became the God, Urath. Father of the Sudani.

And reclaimed his throne among the white spires of heaven.

Joseph Turns From Destiny

I am pretty sure this was supposed to be Rosalind, judging from the reaction and Flece's words on the matter.

And so the enemies of the Summoner: Murod, Sornehan, Galienne, and the four demons were at last defeated. Their ambition to storm the kingdom of heaven foiled.

And what became of Joseph, the stories never say. Perhaps he returned to working the fields as he had in his youth. Or perhaps he ventured out beyond the far horizon of the Khadim for adventures yet untold.
