Part 102: Post-Intermission

: Yes... There's a battle brewing between them on this world.

: I was afraid of that.

: Yes, now we've gotten ourselves entangled in this world's conflicts.

: But the Moon Race's queen, Diana Sorrel, opposes this fighting.

: (...Loran Cehack......)

: But our prospects for resolving this peacefully have grown dim.

: But, Sir Gwen...

: The people called the Innocent intend to fight the Moon Race. We'll wind up getting dragged into that sooner or later.

: (.........)

: Laura, Miss Kihel... Do not forget that Knox was destroyed at their hands. ...If we can't get the power we need, we won't be able to protect our own soil.

: (.........)

: Then, what would you have us do?

: I would like for all of you to lend me your strength.

: (.........)

: You want us to fight the Moon Race?

: The Moon Race are invaders... You must be aware of our plight as their victims.

: (.........)

: You're saying that you have no reason to fight?

: That would be correct, yes.

: (...Is it really better this way...? Isn't there some reason or meaning behind our coming to this time...?)

: But it's strange that you would have no reason to fight.

: What do you mean?

: You knew what those mechanical beasts that came out of the ground were. You also fought them yourselves.

: (.........)

: Could you still say the same thing if they showed up elsewhere and attacked cities?

: (.........)

[SCENE CHANGE]

: Most of it was nonfunctioning due to age deterioration.

: It looks like Mechabeasts kept there in storage activated automatically.

: Activated automatically...?

: I'm not sure if it reacted to us, or to Kouji's Mazinger Z, though...

: (.........)

: That's possible for a Federation mobile suit plant, sure... But we totally trashed the Mechabeasts long ago. Isn't it strange that a plant for those would just be sitting around a place like this?

: Yeah, it is... The Dinosaur Empire's plants were deep underground...

: Dr. Hell built them underground in places all over the world.

: You know a lot about this, don't you, Doctor?

: I was captured by them and made to analyze Ryukooh, that's why... At the very least, I don't think they had any places that stood out this much.

: So it's possible that someone other than Dr. Hell built the plant?

: Yes, probably one of the underground forces... Perhaps it could have been built long after our time...

: You can't tell how long ago it was built?

: The details are fuzzy, but... I think that its age would be denominated in millennia, at the very least.

: Denominated in millennia!?

: Well, that'd certainly explain how much the world's changed.

: (.........) I've had this nagging question for a while now. Why do mechs from our time work perfectly, thousands of years into the future?

: That's been bothering me as well. There might be some sort of clue in the dirt covering the Mechabeasts and mobile suits... I'll look into that with Sid and his group.

: I'll let you handle that, Sarumaru.

[SCENE CHANGE]

: Yeah... Musashi, too...

: Aw, man...

: (.........)

: It'll be alright, Kouji. We're finding everyone, one person at a time... I'm sure we'll find Sayaka and Musashi soon, too...

: Yeah... Say, Jun... Has anything happened to Tetsuya?

: !

: He's been getting an odd attitude around me lately. It's starting to worry me.

: Er, is he...?

: Now thatcha mention it, he used to be pretty sociable, but lately, man...

: How can you say that, Boss? He's rough at times, sure, but he still cares about his friends!

: (.........)

: I was thinking maybe I could try talking to him about it...

: I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. I'll talk to Tetsuya, okay?

: You think so...?

[SCENE CHANGE]

: Jun... What do you want?

: Kouji was worried about you. He said you'd been acting odd lately...

: Odd...? Heh, he might be onto something there.

: Don't tell me you're...

: It's true... I might be harboring a grudge against Kouji somewhere deep down...

: But we're all friends, aren't we...?

: Kouji and I are fundamentally different from one another. After all, the Chief and I are complete strangers unrelated by any blood ties.

: Tetsuya... That's not true!

: I'm a red-blooded man too, you know. I have feelings too.

: T-Tetsuya...!

: When the Londo Bell crew took the Macross to Pluto during the Balmar War... You and I were the ones who protected the Far East and South Atalia Island.

: (.........)

: We somehow managed that thanks to methods we learned from our professional upbringing, but... Because the Chief ordered us to join the Londo Bell, we've had to do things their way. The result is that we've failed to capture Duke Gorgon or General Dark.

: (.........)

: If we keep playing nice, we'll have staked our lives coming this far for nothing...!

: (.........)

: Protecting friends is fine and all, but there are other things we must protect first. With the Preventers unable to accept that harsh truth, they can't deal with this situation.

: (.........)

: Besides... We were raised by the Chief to be weapons.

: Tetsuya... That's not it. You're wrong...!

: (..................) ...I'm sorry, Jun. What am I saying? There must be something wrong with me...

: (.........)

: ...Don't tell Kouji about this, okay?

: (.........)

: (.........)

: (Tetsuya.........)
