Part 52: About Getting Tricked

Watch the cutscene and battle!

Heh heh. Hate to disappoint you, but I've got other reasons for sticking around.
You are the only man ever to make me bleed, and I swear that you will die by my hand!
Man, why not do something a little more productive with all that energy?

It's a blastia! I can't believe he'd try to use it like that...!
I've got a bad feelin' about this.
That blastia...!

Judith jumps down into the arena.

The rest follow.

What could this mean for the tournament?! ...Oh screw this. I'm outta here!

Yuri!

Come, Yuri! Let me show you my new toy!
Now you're starting to get on my nerves.

Zagi is mostly the same as in the last battle with him, he's stronger and has a few new Artes but that's about it.

Listen to the full conversation!

Hahaha, now you'll meet your doom!
Do you seriously think I'm gonna let you get away with using a blastia like that?
That arm alone isn't gonna win this for you.
I think you should be prepared to meet your own fate.
Hahaha, you're all just jealous of my arm.
You should really use that tenacity for something more productive.
I can't stand people desecrating blastia like that!
That blastia arm... it's disgusting.
Ahaha! Worship me! Fear me! Let me feel your rage!!

However, that doesn't mean you should let your guard down like I did here. Whoops.

Blastia Suction is one of his new Artes, which allows him to suck in aer to heal a bit. It takes him forever to actually get health though and he's vulnerable to attacks while he does it, so it's kinda dumb.

The gimmick to that attack is that if you allow him to suck in enough aer, his blastia explodes, which is the Secret Mission. You'll probably get it accidently since he attempts to heal fairly often.

I'm not even entirely sure what Blastia Blast is supposed to be, looks to me like an attack like Mirage to get behind the opponent since it doesn't seem to do any damage.

Then we have Charging Shockwave, which is pretty much Zagi's version of Yuri's Destruction Field.

And Blastia Blaze (oh hey there typo), which is kinda like Shining Eagle.

Apart from that, it's really just more of the same.

One thing you should be careful about is him pinning you against the edge of the arena, since if he feels like it he can just chain Light Spear and Cyclone Shot indefinitely to keep you in the air, which is really annoying.

And that's about it I guess.

The Secret Mission gives you a Drain Charm, an accessory that prevents the Weak (Halves Max HP) and Contamination (TP Poison) status effects.

Achievement/Trophy:

Secret Mission 8 (360) / Secret Mission 9 (PS3)

This damn blastia's not doing what I want it to!

What are they doing here?!
They're kept here to be used in the tournaments! That shock just now must have destroyed the barrier blastia that was holding them in!
Graaah...!

He's getting away...!

Judith starts giving chase, but...

Damn it, guess we'll have to take care of the monsters first.
...

We now have to fight two of the enemy groups here. They're normal enemies, nothing special.

The EXP from Zagi apparently put me high enough to get Severing Fang. Yuri knocks enemies up, and spins around to knock them back down. It's alright, but there's better Artes.

Judith also gets something: Luna Rondo, a midair-only arte. Judith spins around and creates some wind around her in the process.

After two battles...

Watch the cutscene!

This is becomin' a real pain in the neck.
Less talking, more fighting.

Wh-what?

Shouldn't evacuating these people come first?
The rest of you will defend the spectators with me! Don't let even one of the beasts escape!

Judith and your puppy dog already took off.
Yeah, I heard.

...

Watch the cutscene!

...He's pretty good at running away.
Repede is still after him.
Hopefully he won't lose the trail.
But what's the deal, anyway? Why would Regaey...?
Think he set us up somehow?

Orders...?
Relax, it doesn't look like he's here to recapture any princesses. He wouldn't go through the trouble of entering the tournament for that.
Well, then what could it be?
Good question. Whatever it was, I'm sure it was hurting Regaey's plans.
But Regaey seemed so polite...
He didn't seem too polite when he was making off with that case.

Still, what could he want with that case?
Just what was the clear ciel crystal?
About all we know now is that something in that box made my magic go all haywire. I'd never lost control of my bodhi blastia like that before...
Hey, if we've got the time ta be standin' around chattin', shouldn't we be chasin' after your doggy friend?
You're right, we should be going.

Skit: Regaey
Damn that Regaey...
What could he possibly want with that case?
Well, our genius mage's magic was kinda weird. He must have thought it was linked to that box.
Then, you think Regaey knows what's in the box?
The only way we'll find out is by going after him.
If he stole it knowing what was inside, then he must know what the clear ciel crystal can do.
If we catch him, we might learn something about Yormgen.
Okay, now we definitely can't let him get away.
Yes, we don't have a moment to lose.

Leaving town, we run into Repede.

Watch the cutscene!

Repede'll be able to follow his scent with this.
Woof!
We've gotta get that case back!
Yeah, there's that too.
Guilds don't take kindly ta backstabbin' cheats.
That's right.
He couldn't just cross the mountains to the west without preparing first. We should be able to catch up with him.
All right. Let's get him.
Do you think the coliseum will be okay?
Are you worried about it?
Do you want to wait here with Rita, then?
What do you mean?
This is a guild matter, after all. Nothin for you little ladies ta worry yourselves over.

Besides, I won't feel right till I give that idiot a piece of my mind.
Then, I...
Decide for yourself.
I... I'll come too.
If he was trying to obstruct the Knights, then this could be connected to the empire.
Hmm, maybe. Anyway, the coliseum will be fine. Flynn's got a handle on things.
Well then, let's get our things in order and go after that jerk.

Skit: The Fifth Master Guild
Altosk, Fortune's Market, Ruins' Gate, and the Blood Alliance... Huh, that makes us one short.
Huh? What are you talking about?
The Union's five master guilds. We've dealt with four of them, but not the last one...
Oh. Hey, I don't think I even knew the last one's name... Hey, Karol. What's the last guild called?
Ah, that'd be the blacksmithing guild, the Soul Smiths.
Huh. I didn't know they had a guild for that, too.
You've probably used swords forged by the Soul Smiths without even knowing it.
You've seen weapons embossed with an iron hammer, right? That's their guild emblem.
Oh, yeah, the innkeeper where I used to stay had a kitchen knife with something like that on it.

We're going to chase after him next time though. Until then!
