Chapter 29 – Granada’s liberation



Welcome back. After retaking Runan’s homeland not too long ago it is time to do the same for Holmes.





This chapter is called the Flag of the Sea Lion.







: Don’t break the formation, cooperate and fight. Don’t pursue them too far. Hold the line until the right wing of the army attacks the enemies flank!









: Sister Renee!? Why did you return?

: I’m sorry, I just could not help thinking about it. Is there anything I can do to help? If I fight to protect the people from the pirate’s plunder, then Goddess Utna will surely forgive me.

Despite these words the regular enemies still suck incredibly hard. So let’s look at the once with portraits.



Pike is nothing to worry about. He has slightly better stats then regular enemies and thanks to his shield he has pretty good defense. However magic will melt him pretty quickly and his damage is nothing to write home about.



Renee is the best priest in the game in my opinion. While she can’t attack people since this game lacks light tomes she has great stats (especially given how poor most of my healers turned out to be) and two unique staffs. The warp staff is self explanatory and can still be used to cheese a good number of maps. The Foehammer or Evil-Slaying Staff kills a number of monsters up to her magic score with no questions asks.



Lastly we have Shion who is a fucking nightmare. He has great stats all around with his only weakness covered by the boost of the magic shield. The Goddess shield stops all effective damage so forget cheesing him with a bow. Lastly his lance restores HP equal to the damage he inflcts upon you. Luckily he is a moving boss (and a nice guy) so we will evade him and “let him live”







As our first order of business Sierra starts operation murder outsiders to preserve as many warp staff charges as possible. This is only viable if you still have her Nosferatu tome obviously (and you should have given that the chapters with her so far were really lacking in challenge)



The rest of the team moves up into the city.



Renee starts warping units into our army, although we are prepared for it.



: I’m called the ace of the Shion corps: Pike the Hurricane. I won’t let anyone pass here so easily!





It doesn’t end well for him and the magic users in this game continue to spite me with bad levels.











We get rid of the enemies standing in our way and Sasha gets a good level.









Even the physic asshole can’t stop us from killing them with counter attacks. Although those levels

Since the city is pretty much cleaned up Shigen enters the arena to get a level. It’s not good.



We break down the gate and have Attrom recruit his sister.





: Bis sister… ist his really you? How can big sis still be alive? Am I dreaming?

: Attrom... I’m sorry for making you worry. Many things happened, really so many things....

And with that she joins us without even guilt tripping us on the dudes we killed. I already said how amazing she was. But man that recruitment is horrible to translate I think. Onee-chan





Renee heals Atrrom up and he in return kills the last two remaining soldiers of the „ambush“ on counter attacks for a great level.





On the other side of the map we prepare Shigen for Operation Decoy and move him into Shion’s range.



: Then you are more than worthy opponents. With the honor of my beloved Canaan kingdom at stake, I wil crush you all!



Shigen is barely fast enough to not get doubled but is still destroyed pretty badly by Shion.



He doesn’t survive the follow up by the Gatling Bow equipped tank but that’s why I equipped Dullahan.







With Shion having left the building, we easily take it through warp staff application.







: The principality of Sofia has broken it’s ties with the empire as per order of Princess Reshe!

: Princess Reshe has returned to our country? Is that really true?

: I will tell you the details later. First of all, retreat! I want to save Shion to help Reshe rebuild our country! I cannot let you die in a place like this!

The promotion kinda sucks but Holmes has good stats overall so it doesn’t matter too much.

it feels like the joke got lost in translation about how common and tasteless their names are. I would guess that in the original language their names might be easy to write or close to more obscene words.

: Well it doesn’t matter anyway, but Attrom is one unlucky fellow. We better keep this matter under wraps for a while. If he knows his father is that guy, he might become negative and even kill himself...

Renee is amazing. She has the best starting stats and growths out of all the priests and only Plum comes close with utility due to dance opposed to the warp and evil-slaying staffs. She can also summon so you can give her summon staffs as well to create distractions. All in all she tends to be a mainstay in your army once you get her unless you have remarkable luck on your other healers.
