IntroductionThread is moving slow tonight, so let's obviously pile in some more content for it!
Welcome to The Castles of Doctor Creep!
This game was released in 1984 for the Commodore 64 home computer, although the game is probably at least one year older than that, since it just took its sweet time to get released.
Anyway, the game itself is a crossover between an adventure and platforming game, which was pretty innovative back at the time. It also has its fair share of puzzles and exploration to keep you interested on the game. Basically, you play the role of a poor guy trapped inside the Castles of Dr.Creep, which happen to be filled with deadly lightning machines, ray guns and other death traps. To make matters worse, mummies and even Frankenstein clones inhabit the place and want you dead. You need to escape from Dr.Creep's 12 castles while avoiding the many obstacles in your way, solving the puzzles that have been put to stump you.
The game also features a cooperative mode where 2 players have to escape from Dr.Creep castles, where you and a friend can help/hinder each other trying to escape the castle. Anyone who wants to join along is welcome to do so, although I'm not too sure about how stable C64 emulators are whenever it comes to netplay. Failing that, I might resort to guest commentary for some of the levels, as this game can get pretty long-winded later and some of the levels can be really expansive. This game is not for the impatient ones!
The first video takes a while to get started, but what a minute or two of fumbling around will account to for such a slow-paced game? Just sit back and enjoy. For the first video, we check out how the game works with the tutorial castle, and we'll play the easiest castle of the game to pad this update a bit.
