Part 19: vi. Jorgen

vi. Jorgen

Jorgen is kinda interesting. He has a multiple choice past, and what class he becomes is determined by the combination of three items you find in the world and show him.

Two classes are available in mid-Disc 1, one class is available at the end of Disc 1, and four others are only available near the end of Disc 2. All this fuss over this one character, who frankly, is underwhelming and bench fodder as far as I’m concerned. Interesting idea, not great execution.

Jorgen

An amnesiac desert wanderer. His scarred face hints at a rough past. Is what he remembers real?

Adventurer is the easiest and quickest one to get. It’s also fairly utilitarian… but it offers nothing special and you’re likely to eventually bench Adventurer J. just like I did. On the other hand, I can get him almost right away and he would be the first character to have Vivication Herb. But that would mean needing to bench someone else, preferably not someone who is trying to learn vivication Herb... so either Torgal or Blocter.

This one can learn Psionics, which is not bad. Too bad there’s naught of interest in the long drought before that. He’ll eventually be outclassed by other leaders.

You have to enter the Aquaducts, and then leave them after finding the item for this class. It’s only notable for being a rare dual-wielder, and otherwise is uninteresting.

The only notable factor for choosing this one is that he learns Wards – only five characters under BR 80 can learn them. But like all of the Jorgens available here, by the time you can get him, it’s so freaking late in the game that there’s little point in choosing any of them – you’ve been gathering and strengthening a solid party all game long by now.

Invocations. That’s all he fucking gets until BR 82, after which he can learn Poison Gas as a Hex. And only 10 more BR until he gets Shards! Whyyyyyy. Shards are the only thing going for this joker, but by this point, David could have mastered Shards, and there’s also Khrynia you can get now who starts out with a buttload of Shards pre-learned. Worthless.

Hexes. Seriously, this is supposed to be a character worth waiting this long to get? You can recruit other characters a lot earlier who know the same or more Hexes than this.

His high health is notable, but is that enough to save Raider J.? Not a fucking chance. These are basically all trash. The Wards and Psionics users are the only ones with some redeeming factors - maybe the Adventurer for the early Vivication Herb.
