Part 1: Prologue - A Sinister Plot

If you missed the game's trailer, it's here.

01. Prologue - A Sinister Plot

(The game opens with a prologue video. It's in a different aspect ratio than the game itself probably due to size issues--there's a lot of animation, both 2D and 3D. There's very little dialogue but it's necessary to set the stage for the rest of the game. As a result, I'm going to try and get through the prologue as quickly as possible to get the game proper.)

It begins with a close-up shot of an ornate incense burner. The camera pans around the large room to reveal the nearby bed and its two occupants: a man and a woman. The woman is awakened by the sounds of a crying baby.

Quick cut to a sinister looking green liquid being poured into the hollow of a large ring. The camera pulls back to reveal the owner.

Meanwhile, a young woman, presumably the child's nanny, takes the baby elsewhere to comfort him. The other woman, presumably the baby's mother, falls back to sleep. Note the woman's ring.

As the nanny steps out onto the terrace, the weather begins to worsen.

Meanwhile, our shadowy figure hoods himself and goes to...

..the family's bedroom!

In an incredible display of animation...

...he dispenses the contents of his ring into the incense burner in what can only be described as a brilliant bit of villainous mustache twirling.

Snake-like fumes come to life and swirl around the room...

...and strike at the nearest living souls.

As the weather worsens, the nanny returns to the room to discover the macabre scene within.

She flees into the night.
