Asterixis is a symptom that results from liver problems, in which the affected has involuntary muscle contractions in the wrist while it's extended. It's just something that would lead them to consider the liver the correct place to look for problems.



These are all connected to the normal course of completing the operation quickly and with minimal vitals-pumping. As long as you can prevent any foreign bodies from hitting the foci, you'll be fine. Keeping them away from the bruise isn't even as important.
