Part 105: Chapter 11, Part 5

: Don't let your success go to your head, Avatar.

The Isle of the Avatar is a fairly desolate place. But that's sorta to be expected, since the whole thing is sitting on top of what is essentially hell.

Some Blackrock Arms are sitting at the top of a nearby cliff.

And, since we forgot to take the Red Candle from Destard, the developers were kind enough to hide one in an underwater box near the docks.

...Well, I guess that's everything we need in order to do this ritual.

There's a demon skull on a pike near the pentagram.

It makes our base.

Now we season it with some Sulphurous Ash and Spider's Silk.

The next ingredient the recipe calls for is some Blackrock. We can use any blackrock, but the idea is that we'd have taken a chunk from Covetous.

We're ballsy so we're going to sacrifice our Blackrock chest.

And now the last ingredient, the Red Candle.

We learned from our last mistake with the Candle of Love, and can only assume the same thing would happen if we cast Bolt of Flame on the Candle of Hate, so we use a basic Ignite spell.

Woo!

Oh god that looked so painful. At least Pyros looked happy to see us.

Okay. This is it: my favorite part of this game. The Abyss. It is, perhaps, the only dungeon in this whole pile of crap that has at least an ounce of creativity put into it. It's also really fun. In my opinion it's worth playing through the entire game just to get to this dungeon.

Before we get started, I'm going to post my crappy MSPaint of the Abyss' overall structure.

It goes like this:

Pyros pulled us down into the cavern below the Isle of the Avatar by phasing us through the rock and driving us insane through agony. In the middle of the Lake of Fire area is a shaft leading down. There are four elemental puzzles that reward us with four elemental Globes, each of which opens a single portal to an Elemental Plane. On this Elemental Plane we need to destroy a boss - typically a fuckoff-huge demon or dragon. Destroying all four elemental guardians lowers the elemental seal, which lets us climb down into the lower cavern and beat us up some Blackthorn.

Yay, the Abyss!
