The Abyss: Complete solution (Part 1)

The Abyss actually works out to have much less puzzle solving than the other dungeons.

I also recorded the whole thing. Originally it was in several parts but I spliced it together for easy viewing. I uploaded it to Google Video for the higher resolution, but it's taking a while to process. I'll post it whenever it goes through.





This is where Pyros leaves us.




It's a large and suspiciously volcanically-active area.

Before going any further, I'll explain the Abyss' gimmick:

It consists of a number of 'planes' - that is, terrain fields. The area you actually have to explore is rather small, but if you wanted to you could spend a very long time in this dungeon exploring everything.




The first thing we do is kill a gigantic dragon.




This locked chest has the Blackrock leggings in it. I believe that the key is on the opposite side of this area. Since that would be a trek of several minutes we just phase the leggings through the side of the chest.




Now we head toward the four statues.




And we jump down into the next area.




We land on a ledge.




Behind us is a door. We go left, because the right path is blocked off.




At the end of the hallway is a treasure pile.




When we get too close it turns into a Gazer.




We push a loose block on the wall, which opens the right path.




The room on the right has a face target on the floor.




Just like in Shame, we stand on the face until the clouds overhead fire orbs at the target.




When the target is hit, the Wind Globe appears.




We take it and jump on the teleporter.





The teleporter brings us down to a red area.




As before, we take the left path first.




The loose block for this area is on the left hand side.




After that we press the button on the right, and then the one on the left.




Pressing the buttons in this order makes the Fire Globe appear.

Now we head back down the passage and take the right path.




This area has a furnace in it.




Casting Douse on the two braziers extinguishes the flames. We take the teleporter that is revealed.
